Think you need special software and video capture hardware.

I think it depends on what you want to do. For in-game scenes you will need special hardware, but for rendered animations a renderer and a video cutting software would be enough.

You'd need a program to string all the frames and scenes together. Adobe... Adobe... Ah, I forget the name. It has a horse on the front cover.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
