now I'm no expert, but the ships and weapons tables being "INVALID!" seems to jump at me. does anyone else catch anything, and any ideas how to resolve this?

Are you running this on debug? I often felt this while on debug mode..Everything fine on the normal .exe though.

Invalid Ships.tbl and Weapons.tbl just means you're not using the retail tables and hence that your score won't be saved in multi, which is perfectly normal for a mod.

Are you running this on debug? I often felt this while on debug mode..Everything fine on the normal .exe though.
Yeah, right. Do you often get a debug log by not running a debug exe ?

Anyway, I can't see any issue that could make you crash on that log, so I'll let the experts figure it out.

Lots of -wep.tbms there. Also, that warning comes with a helpful suggestion attached. I suggest you implement it.

Code: [Select]
TBM  =>  Starting parse of 'TF-shp.tbm' ...
WARNING: "Boolean '+Dynamic' type unknown; assuming 'no/false'" at parselo.cpp:2025
WARNING: "Boolean '+Dynamic' type unknown; assuming 'no/false'" at parselo.cpp:2025

Not sure what you were trying to do there. I suggest you fix it by using the info on proper ships.tbl formatting on the wiki.

it with my mode, I get this error

You say this, but I don't see the error. Use debug, run a mission, enable cheats, and then post the log you get from that.

Are you running this on debug? I often felt this while on debug mode..Everything fine on the normal .exe though.

That is the point of running debug. Debug builds WILL crash and complain at the slightest provocation. They do this for your benefit. If your mod generates no warnings or crashes on debug, then it's pretty much guaranteed that the mod will be stable on release builds; At the very least, you will know that if crashes happen, they're probably indicative of bugs in the code rather than bugs in your mod.

Telling people who make mods to use release builds is terminally stupid. We release debug builds so that modders can make stable, reliable mods. There's a reason why "run your mod through the latest debug build available and fix all issues reported" is an item on the prerelease checklist.

Invalid Ships.tbl and Weapons.tbl just means you're not using the retail tables and hence that your score won't be saved in multi, which is perfectly normal for a mod.

Actually, in this case it just means that you have several -shp or -wep tbms in the same directory. If this happens, the tables are marked as invalid because the exe cannot guarantee that all tbms have been loaded in the right order.

Yeah, what The_E said, there's not an actual crash in that log.  It looks like a normal exit to me.

i think I honestly started getting this error with the new build that is being worked on. I never had the issue before. it's either that or when I threw my table together for the mod, I just copied the ship tables and pasted / edited from there. don't know much about building from scratch. prob the problem.

as for this, I do have several weapons tables from various ships I downloaded. would it be good for me to dump them into 1 table instead of having like 10 (rough count, some of the weapons tables are just tables creating the weapons). prob a dumb question, but clarification never hurt.

P.S: thanks for the replies guys. much appreciated. everyone's good about trying to help.

Yeah, you will definitely run into issues if you have too many tbms of the same "kind" (ie related to the same tbl). Nothing's wrong with tbms per se though, they're actually a very useful too. Just get all your tbms back into a single one, you don't need to make a full tbl if you don't have to.

Yeah, right. Do you often get a debug log by not running a debug exe ?

What I meant to say was, are you getting the crash ONLY if running in debug mode? IIRC in WiH if I used cheats (www.freespace2.com) in Delenda Est using the normal build, it worked perfectly. However, I used to get a crash using a debug build

i like debug builds because chats work automatically, without needing the code :D

so the dynamic code is for two fighters I have (I believe). when I looked for the word Dynamic, I got the same code

Code: [Select]
$Glide:
+Dynamic Glide Cap: YES

they are from the Earth Defense mod dump. I dunno if erasing them would screw everything up. should I just erase those parts? or leave em?

Those lines are just wrong. the proper syntax would be:

Code: [Select]
$Glide:                                           YES
+Dynamic Glide Cap: YES
