Its been a while since I've posted anything. This is latest ship I've done, I've always wanted to do a GTVA cruiser but I havent come up with a name for it yet, any comments are welcome.

Looks awesome, very homeworld'ish, just how I like it
-
Yup, it did scream "Taiidan" to me before I even read Rodo's comment. The turrets are very cool too. Is it missile launchers I see on the rear top sides ? I can't see any beam turret, but it's not like if GTVA cruiser beams were of any other use than lighting show.
Anyway, very cool. Keep it up !

Looks pretty good, keep it up.

Thanks, yeah, I have taiidani tendency and those are missile launchers. The main turret (the one in the last picture) would actually be a combined laser and beam turret, the upper gun would be a laser cannon with the lower, bigger gun being the beam cannon.

I like the nod to the iceni in the engine shape
-
Ooooh, turrets with combined armaments. We don't see many of those, but afaik perfectly doable in FSO.
-
While doable, they're difficult to get right, and their targeting might not be optimal.
-
I feel that that sharp nose isn't exactly GTVA style.
-
GTVA style is rather diverse. Can you see many similarities between a Fenris and a Hecate (aside from being excellent target practice) ?
It could just be a brand new military contractor trying himself into the cruiser market.
-
Poor comparison, as the Fenris dates back to the FS1 era, and the Hecate is modern (if of limited effectiveness as a warship). The point, is that none of the Terran ships in FS feature such prominent sharp angles.
-
And my point is, I don't see any valid reason why this ship couldn't be a GTVA ship and have such prominent sharp edges.
We also don't know what era that ship is supposed to exist. Could perfectly be a Post-Capella design. So the Fenris/Hecate comparison is perfectly valid.
-
We are each entitled to our opinions.
With such a sharp nose, might this perhaps be called the Cutter class?
-
Could be used for the Inferno faction that uses HW-based design for its warships.

It is possible for any one turret to have three primaries and four secondaries, but at the same time any one turret can only operate with one target priority. For example, you cannot mix weapons with flags such as huge, bomber+, capital+ or small only. Or use weapons that have different targeting priorities set in objecttypes.tbl/tbm. And since turret can only target using one weapon in one fire point, the other weapons are likely going to miss if their velocity is different.
There is very little sense in mixing multiple different weapons in same turret, it's not going to work very well.

Anti-cap guns and homing anti-cap missiles.
Or anti-fighter guns and anti-fighter missiles.
that should work.
-
Yup. If the turret can properly aim with only one weapon, make the other weapons be homing missiles. Tracking problem solved.

/me makes supportive, morale boosting comment.

That's a refreshing change from your usual horny comments.

The flak turrets on the sides feel too bulky for the tapered look, I think.
It isn't standard GTVA design, but the overall shape screams hunter-killer to me. Maybe have the turrets fire TAGs for heavier weapons towards the stern.
I could also see it in something like WoD, what with the missile-array-looking things on the sides.
