My sympathies go out to those affected by this :(

Edit: Cleared up the title, the Coach was returning to Belgium, not in it.

Yeah, this is all over the news here in Holland - It really scares me. Half of the children are dead. The other half are wounded. The dead had not yet been identified when the parents were informed this morning.

That just creeps me out.

For the Western colonials among us, coach means bus.

A head-on-collision with the edge of K-rail or the local equivalent, the front of the bus ripped open, but still...the damage doesn't look that extensive. I guess seatbelts aren't required there either.

The children on the bus were wearing seat belts and no other vehicle was involved, he added.

EDIT: accidental double-post, feel free to delete 1st.  Sorry

...so they had seatbelts. The front of the bus is a loss but the serious damage doesn't penetrate more than...maybe three rows? And 28 people, 22 of them children, were killed. It didn't catch fire.

Either the seatbelts weren't on as much as they'd like or those were really bad seatbelts.

Watch the vid... it looks like that bus got split right about chest-or-head height, about halfway down the length of the bus.  If they weren't wearing seatbelts, at 100kph/62mph, they would most likely all (except for one or two) be dead now.
