Karma requested I modify my X-Wing so we'd also have a Z-95. Is there any differences between them other than the 2 gunpoints instead of 4 and the 2 wing design instead of the 4? Also, should I do the two engine version or the four engine one?
-
take the screens (or even the models if you want and know how to convert em) of this moddin project as reference http://www.xwaupgrade.com/
another model is here http://www.theforce.net/scifi3d/starwars/alliancecraft.html
as you can see there are different versions of the z95, just make the one more similar to the xw (like the one on the xwaupgrade) to spare time
-
As far as I know, there is only the four engine version........and the cockpit is different. There are subtle differences between the Z-95 and the T-65, so I suggest you look them up on the web. :)
Or play X-Wing Alliance! :D:D

If you read the SW databank on www.starwars.com, it mentions an early, two-engine version. And thanks Karma for those sites. I actually found part of my X-Wing on a really crappy model on a different site (all I took was a simplified version of the nose cone, rest of it was crap).
-
Found a nice little model by someone going by the name "Little Bill" here:
http://www.blenderwars.com/models/popup/z95.html
D/loading it now to see whether I need to make any modifications before converting.
EDIT: NM, too high-poly. Amazingly small file for the polys though....

Here's my first run-through of it. No texs yet. It's a (very heavily modified) X-Wing.
-
That looks pretty on par. I've seen a couple pics, and the STvsSW model looks close to that.
-
thats it, as I remember it from Tie Fighter, exept the Z-95 dosn't have flashback suppresors (those thingies on the wings).
-
Pretty good, but IIRC the bulge behind the cockpit should be more pronounced...
-
Hmmm... no flashback suppressors? Shouldn't take too much work to remove. Just need to use "Delete Face" in TS2. And the bulge should be bigger? Check. I'll get to work on it.

How does this version look? Threw a b/ground on because I was bored.
-
looks right to me
-
Well, if Karma agrees with you, I'll throw it over to him to put on the texturing pile.
-
Hey Karma, you out there?
-
thats it , my image of a Z-95 at last modeled :)
-
All it needs is a little Mara Jade in the cockpit! :D:D:D
-
Bleh... for some reason Karma thinks there's supposed to be flash suppresors....
-
uhffff....:) pics from various fonts (starwars.com, theforce.net ..):

oh, a little wip of the xw...just to don't let you think its not worth the (big) wait...;)..i know i'm slow as hell ehehe

:bleh. can't delete.:
-
Oooh.... Nice. I like the body and top texs. The R2 could use a little work; just a bit blurry right now.
Damn.... I have to put those flash suppresors back on the Z-95. And the engines need to be bigger, and that bulge just a bit more pronounced....
-
use this as reference:
http://www.xwaupgrade.com/screenshots/z-95/z-95-highresext06.jpg
compared to this the engines aren't much bigger....just more smooth..
you can use the xw engines and it will work fine;)
-
The only catch with having a Z-95, or indeed any ship with wingtip laser configuration, is that with the cannons mounted as wide as they are, it becomes a real task to hit anything!
Try flying the Gencore VF-21 Harpy......
-
I'm redoing the wings and engines, ripping them right off the X-Wing model....
-
Good work you're doing here! :) That X-Wing is really coming along well, and good luck with the headhunter....
