Title: Google autocomplete and US politics
Post by: stinkyFeet on March 27, 2012, 01:21:37 pm
Here are two phrases and the top 10 results for how to complete them from google autocomplete in order.

why are democrats-
so stupid
donkeys
so weak
better than republcas
blue
called the left
against keystone pipeline
against voter id
called liberals
for abortion

why are republicans-
so stupid
so evil
elephants
so hateful
evil
against gay marriage
against contraception
against obamacare
against birthcontrol
so mean

Before anyone says it, yes I know seeing anything in an us vs them manner is stupid, I'm going to hide now.

Google's presumably pulling from its query logs (which are records of what searches people have typed into Google; yes every search engine company (except maybe for DuckDuckGo (https://duckduckgo.com/privacy.html)) keeps such records and uses them for various purposes, many if not most of which benefit users) and displaying something like the most common occurrences. In other words, what you're seeing is most likely what other people have typed into Google. I don't really see a problem here.

Who said there was a problem?

Note: google autocomplete does not misspell "republicans" as above
