Title: Is Laporte a GTVA spy?
Post by: flecht on March 29, 2012, 01:00:52 pm
I managed to find something like this:

Is she really a Tev spy? Is this a known fact (for BP team)?  ;)
I checked it on two different missions with the same results, so it's probably not a coincidence.

****, time to rewrite the ending again

Maybe there's a way to change that message on a per-campaign basis. Let's see if we can figure it out.

it could always be a code bug :P

This is an automated traitor message for when you shoot at your allies. I am not sure whether it is hardcoded, or held in a table somewhere. It's a minor issue, but potentially not hard to fix. If it is indeed hardcoded, it might be worth Mantising.

Doesn't FSPort have different traitors debriefs ?

iirc it's possible to change it, but...

Well, it took me a little effort. I had to attack allied units and survive until Tevs sink, for example, Indus. In normal gameplay it's unlikely to encounter this bug. "Engine failure" is doing it's job. ;)

I'm fully aware of it.

Edit:
That's how it looks in ST:R:

It's located in the traitor.tbl.

http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Traitor.tbl <--- format
http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Traitor <--- Script for FS1 and FS2

Simple table fix then. I suspect the BP team has already fixed it on their SVN while we were talking about it :p

Laporte is a Tev spy, but the Secret Project is that she's actually a Shivan Tev spy.

Its easily over looked though, tips you see every time you create a pilot.  traitor takes the player to actively try to break the mission and survive the consequences in mission to hit.

Laporte is a Tev spy, but the Secret Project is that she's actually a Shivan Tev spy.

shhhhhhh, the shivan counter to Vishnan interference must never be revealed

Mistakes does not make the one, who does nothing.

The change would also affect AoA though, it's global change. Probably not an issue though.

You could word it neutral.
Something like "You shot at your allies, so we'll shove you out of an airlock now. Have a nice death!"
Or on a more serious note: "Attacking allied ships is an act of treason. Untill your courtmartial you'll be confined to the brig." or something like that, that doesn't mention GTVA or UEF.

or just drop the AoA traitor in BP1 and the WiH traitor in the BP2 folder.  mod.ini structuring means that when you have bp2 selected it's traitor table will override the AoA one, problem solved, the team will just have to remember to paste a coppy into the WiH P2 folder on distribution to ensure it is the one that gets played

The thing is that we've always tried to keep the mod set up so that you can play FS2 and BP1 with BP2 selected. But this isn't a hugely substantive change and there are already bigger discrepancies (some icons, for instance)
