Ok, as I am fast running out of new and interesting ship ideas, I want to know what the community wants to see, so if you have a great ship idea, and you can't model, please post it here, and I'll try to make it!!

How about some kind of dark, menacing spindly ship (Shivan design, cap ship) that generates black holes from a multitude of large Sathanas-like spires?

Or some small, yet very powerful warship called Gunship in TT. Would cut off some ravanas nose with MAX two minutes.

U-Boat style GTVA ships. Very small, dark and fast yet beam capable along with missile racks. Cruiser/Corvette size.

how about something people never make, like transports, colony ships... or you could just make a missile destroyer-like idea

A Fenris or a Leviathan, dead.
Basically blow some chunks in it, rip some bits out and texture it to make it look suitably owned and dead.
You won't have to worry about any subsystems, just keep a docking point.
If you could do this, I will be very :D :D :D :jaw: :D :jaw:

yeah, a derelict series would be cool for many campaign makers.

As long as it doesn't take up to much space in the table files :)
Good idea though, the hard work is already done for you... it's just a case of texturing/modelling chunks out of it...

Shouldn't do - no subsystem data, tech room data, etc. etc.
If you want a derelict version of every single ship though, maybe then you should worry! :)

That'd be great, I plan on stumbling across it in a nebula anyway, so one detail level is no problem. :P
What sort of working time would you put on a small project like this?

nevermind...the fenris is an unstable model...it keeps telling me it is hollow...I don't think I'll be able to do that...sorry...

Sure, no problem. What about Deimos or Aelous? Heck I suppose wrecking a Cain/Lilith or Moloch would also work with minor adaptations to the story.

If derelict ships are on the go, how about half finished ships? should be an easy model too, just cut bits out and maybe change textures a bit? I mean, we have the ganymede, so what we really need is something to go in it :).

How about an updated Ursa, where the engines are angled similar to the Zeus and the secondary pods are swung up to the sides kind of like wings.

I'd rather use a well made gunship, something with the size of an Ursa, 10-12 primaries (well placed) and 3 secondary banks...
Maybe a turret or two won't hurt...

I would like a small suport carrer for the vasudans, that would give a corvett backup and fighter suport, as fare as sise gos about as big as the medical friget, and with 10 turrets four of wich are large like the ones seen on the Aeolus, it would have a main beam cannon, with 2 AAAF's, and 2 flack gun. The rest are all laser turrets.
The ship should have the fighter bay be the main body of it. :nod:

any of the ship designs in the concepts link in my siggy ..... then i would be happy (they wouldnt be for me, cause i dont mod, but i would love to see them used my other people:nod:) :D

How about modifying the current ships in FS2 to have large 'blow through' areas in them?
Such as from the cover of the box or the intro?
Set the subsystem hitpoints way high of course... It wouldn't do for the main hull of a destroyer to be at 90% left after having just gotten a new one ripped through it's side.

Wing Zero-One in the plane mode would be nice. If the Robotech Mod gets the transforming thing to work right, we could even have it switch back and forth....

I seriously think that Freespace needs civilian vessels. Like a Space car, or something. Whatever happened to civilians accidentely flying in restricted airspace, and you having to help them?
A conversion for freespace2 so you can fly all of the Shivan fighters and bombers (Modified versions of the ones that have to many weapons banks) Kind of like the DreAdful Shivans MOD for FS1.

Dude, wait for Twisted Infinities. :). We currently have plans for a Luxury liner, a Civillian Yacht, Civillian freighters, a Civvy transport, even weak civillian/merc fighters, and most of those already have models. :)

Luxury liners and yachts would be cool.
And it would make sense for the civvies to have police vehicles that are space capable.
Cause to me it's too big of a burden to have the military having to pool assets for warfare AND homefront jobs.
I mean, are there any countries in the world that pack up and send their cops to the front lines? Letting the cities go without any law enforcement?
Hell, it would also "loosen up" how we've seen space travel in FS.
What if space capable vehicles were expensive, but still a reachable goal to the average citizen (or at least the well-to-do)?
It's more of an anime'ish theme sure, but hey, in real life cops have access to equipment and hardware that, while not on par with the heaviest military hardware, they do get some pretty hefty items.
M-16's, flash-bangs (grenades), APC's...
Hehe, Tank Police...
But if you're doing a civilian mod-set, how about adding in a civilian-style space station? Something meant just for the housing of citizenry, such as one based outside of an asteroid belt for a mining operation.
Cause in all the time that man was exploring, I'm sure there were quite a few stations based in the Sol system before hyperspace travel came about.
