Title says it all. When at school, I am sometimes on old Debian computers with an outdated Iceweasel version (3.0.6 to be precise), and it seems to force the site into smartphone mode on my face. I think there is a link to switch to smartphone mode on bottom of page when you're on normal mode, is it possible to have it the other way around at all ?

Smartphone mode is triggered when the horizontal resolution of the browser window is under a certain amount. In theory, anyway; not sure how your browser version affects this.

Well, this is a 1280x1024 screen.

EDIT: all in all it's not really a big deal. I blame my school for using outdated software, and I can still use the forum fine. However, if it was possible to force non-smartphone mode with a simple click, I would sure appreciate it :)

holy dicks, batman
that does not happen on my netbook, which is like 1024x600. are you sure that's actually smartphone mode and not your browser just being full of bork?
edit:
afaik smartphone mode was this: http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?wap2

It does say "Smartphone: portrait" on top right of the window, so yes, I assume this is the case. However I cannot exclude the "browser just being full of bork" theory, given the outdatedness of this Iceweasel version... In which case, there nothing much we can do.

The wap2 mode is dumbphone mode. Modern smartphones are quite able to render full web pages, and do not need the WAP workaround (WAP being a stripped-down, dumbed down version of html that can be squirted quickly over GPRS or EDGE connections).
This is what HLP looks like on my phone:
