Er, Snail, are you trying to be some kind of Wouter-copy? It isn't very funny, to be honest.

No I actually needed help with this, I had an old version of ModelView32 that lacked the POF editor (which as far as I know is the only way to edit shields, and even then only by importing the mesh from another model).
PCS2 would really benefit from shield editing capability, but otherwise it's a great program so I'll stop whinging.

If you make the shield mesh in some other program and export it as a .dae, you should be able to select "shield" in PCS2 and load the new mesh without reconverting the entire model, I think.

Thing is, I have no experience whatever with Blender or any 3d program. I've repeatedly tried to learn how to do something useful in Blender but the farthest I've ever gotten was figuring out how to move the camera...
-
Mostly I just import a shield mesh from something else and work with the transform options in PCS2 till it's the right size and general shape. FSO seems to be very picky about shield polies.
-
Blender has an icosphere (heavy approximation of a sphere) that seems to work nicely as shield meshes.
But you said you can't use 3D programs, so I digress :nervous:

That's weird. What's the latest version of PCS2? I must be using an ancient version. The one I have doesn't have any shield editing capabilities whatsoever, not even importation or transforms, it just helpfully informs me that editing of shield data is unavailable...

It was just updated. Grab it from the tools board.

personally i use geospheres in milkshape and export them as collada and load in PCS2 they work very nice.
