You're in a battle, your ship is destroyed, but you don't die and you are now floating in space but can move very slowly and have one weak weapon, you have to survive and get close to an enemy fighter, then a cutscene plays where you smash into the enemy fighter's cockpit, rip out the pilot and throw him into space, and then take over the enemy fighter. Then you are flying the enemy fighter.
Thinking of a scripted event to have this happen in a mission.

Completely possible.
Assuming you have that cutscene pre-rendered of course. Good luck with that.

So cutscenes can be played during a mission? Because I want this to all happen in one mission.

i figure it wouldnt be hard to come up with a keyframe animation system in scripting. the question is, can you do character animation with keyframes and subobject rotations.

If i remember right then some missions in BP AoA are with short cutscenes with in.

I don't think you can get a non-ingame cutscene in the middle of a mission.

You definitely can't.
You can, however, chain two missions together and play a prerendered cutscene in between.

Didn't the supernova cutscene play in-mission?

It played after. There was only a blast that began to hit you in mission.
