Title: What the Hell, Hero?
Post by: el_magnifico on May 09, 2012, 10:11:01 pm
Or rather what the hell, Greece?

A Greek neonazi party has achieved 21 seats in the elections. 7% of the Greek population voted for them.
Poor Greece, cradle of Democracy. Guess this is what you get when you push a nation to the very limit. I just hope this doesn't become a trend.

Our fascist party got like... 25 or more seats I think, and got a place in the actual government. Thank god they ****ed up now, but they did do 2 years of rather heavy damage.

Neonazi & fascist parties seem to be on the rise in Europe. A couple weeks ago, France's scored 18% on the first round of presidential election, compared to 28% and 27% for the two leading parties.

In difficult times, people want strong leaders. Not to mention that any government that's currently in power is going to lose trust. The whole western Europe is in recession, and people want changes. TBH, I expected that sort of things to happen. Good thing that none of them actually got the majority...

I wish our fascist party only had 21 seats.

The thing is that the guy leading our fascist party is anything but a strong leader...

Extremists always get more support during times of strife. This is nothing new.

Ineffectiveness leads to extremism, which frequently leads to more ineffectiveness.

unless they try to take over the world, and even then you can get stomped out by someone who wants to prevent that from happening.

The PVV isn't a 'fascist' party  :blah:
They aren't even remotely 'right winged' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pol-landschap-2010.gif
You sound kinda ignorant, I bet you vote on PvdD  :p

They do employ the classic fascist tactics - AFAIK, fascist always reffered to more of a method then an ideology. As a party that basically shouts EXPEL ALL THE IMMIGRANTS and flip flops on every other issue I don't know what else to call them.

EDIT: Nooo, not the PVdD (that's the animal rights party, for those who do not know). They are quite ignorant when it comes to... well... animals!

How about "anti-immigration"? Fascism is a word quite overused nowadays, and I dont think it really applies to PVV.

As for the Golden Dawn, hopefully they will tend to turn away from their fascist and nazi rhetoric now that they are in parliament.

Rise of more extreme parties is to be expected when mainstream parties fail the people. On the "left" part of political spectrum, Radical Left got 16 % and Communists 8 %.

This isn't so much extremism as the people of Greece wanting ANYBODY but the current political establishment that's bowing to German demands that they commit economic suicide with greater and greater levels of austerity in the hope that the confidence fairies will see this (completely futile) attempt to balance the budget and magically make their Eurozone work again.

I disagree. The party is quite socialistic when it comes to economy, jet displays the socialistic parties as those who screwed up the Netherlands (contrasts NSDAP hating on the communist whilst having copied most of their stances). The party has no democratic inner structure like the others, but everything applies to the will of Geert Wilders (who, thanks to a loophole in dutch laws, is the only founder of the party). The party has a strong tendency to blame certain minority groups as the source of many problems in dutch society (and again the socialistic parties for allowing them to), etc.

Honestly, if the NSDAP never happened, the guy could be called a national socialist - it's just that that word now has gotten a... very deep meaning.
