Title: Renders

Well I've started to take up rendering, here's what I have so far

Nice renders. The only thing I will say is that some game textures, like the floor of the hangar, don't always transfer over very well to render-based formats, and that dark ships against dark backgrounds sometimes need something to say 'look at me!' but still a perfectly good start :)

That looks pretty good. Have you tried adding shadows to your lights? Having shadows would add the realism, and would help give everything some volume. Maybe some sort of final gather thing too? Bounced light helps fill in the darkest areas.

More lights to knock out those shadows, perhaps dimly lit area lights? Or a broad light that catches the edges but doesn't cast any shadows to illuminate the backdrop.

As for textures, games and animation call for textures at certain specs, in the case of rendering, higher quality textures and lights make a big difference.
