I don't know what to say, whether China sucks because they lost 4-0, or that at least they were good enough not to lose 8-0 (seriously it was looking that way in the first half). You can be sure the people here are feeling demoralized either way, especially since they got so excited when China actually qualified for the World Cup. Ah well, next up Turkey...
-
Not exactly a surprise, though is it? China weren't that bad - Brazil were just a step above them.

'nuff said. China was lucky to get to the WC at the first place, Brazil... well, it's brazil.
-
Remind me... Is this a Freespace board or a World Cup soccer board.
I don't mind soccer though. Hell, I'm even a fan. But please... Put it in one thread about the world cup instead of flooding the entire Hard Light board.
-
we could have a WC for the duration of the championship. :D
-
Can't we just put all the football results in ONE thread instead of posting one for every match played?
-
thats what i meant.
-
I only posted the England one because it was a very historical and meaningful match.
-
To you, maybe. However, to others it was 'just another match' from the World Cup. English people do not have a monopoly on this board...
And yes, I'm English too. I was even pleased about the event. However, I can see that it was only "historic and meaningful" to a select few. :)
-
To a select many.
-
Not really. Even if the entire population of England is considered, it's a far smaller number than Brazil, China, Argentina, etc...
-
I think you misunderstand what i actually meant by my post. Its revenge for the hand of God goal and 1998.
-
I'm not unaware...
Yeah, and the Falklands war, and refusing to pay our IMF debts, etc etc. Besides, who gives a damn about 1998 who isn't from the UK? Hand of God perhaps...but dammit, that was 16 years ago!
-
Revenge for the Hand of God?
But didn;t Maradona win the game by simply beating the entire English game?
anyway, Argentina can claim the oldest source of football grievance, over Rattin's dismissal for simply talking to the referee in 1966... it's not like either side can claim some sort of moral superiority.

They can claim it but they don't necessarily have it.
I claim moral superiority on behalf on England...err....Britain in regard to all matters past, present and future.
See, easy.

I wouldn't say so. I'm not English, yet I considered that an extremely important match, starting with because it was an F subgroup match, to the point that it was a very beautiful, entertaining match, to say the least.
-
Meh, everyone's complaining about the match here. The say we could have gone a lot better... I'm pleased with it, personally.
-
At least you didn't almost loose to Bolivians. :D

Bah, if you didn't notice, my team is going very well on that championship, thank you very much. :D
-
Well anyway, China only had a national soccer league for about 8yrs... so the result isn't that bad if you consider how long soccer has been a national game in Brazil (or other countries) :) . Well anyway, Japan beat Russia 1-0
-
plz stop posting results here. If you want to discuss football go to so sports site and thier forums
-
it's called soccer. football is a sport with a long ball made of pig skin and has laces.
