Is there any place I can legitimately watch this? I cant find it on netflix and could find it googling. I live in the US, and it doesn't look like there was a release here

Will propably be on DVD soon enough :)
-
At the moment the only way you can legally watch Iron Sky in US is to order the UK DVD/Bluray. Be warned though, this release is not sanctioned by the creators of the movie and is very bare-bones. It includes no extras whatsoever and is just a money grab attempt by the UK distributor Revolver who messed things up in a major way. You can read more about it on the official blog: http://blog.starwreck.com/
There is an US distributor but I'm not aware of their release plans. It's an unfortunate fact that local distributors can do considerable financial damage to indie film producers with poorly thought out releases. The system is broken, but the little guys don't have much say in it.

It'd be nice to have a website with a direct digital download.
-
a lot of content needs such a thing
-
Well, you could always torrent it and then buy it when it comes out, if you can trust yourself to do that, lol.

Distribution contracts prohibit such modern nonesense.

i finally saw it (dont ask how), and i have to say that finnish humor is totally bizarre.

Really? I thought it was pretty good, the humour was loaded with ascerbic and incisive political and cultural analysis both of the US as it stands and of Nazi Germany.
I really enjoyed it, overall.
(And the reference to the famous film about the final days of Hitler who's name has just eluded me, when Vivien goes off at her department heads, was pure gold)
-
There was a Downfall reference?
-
i just said their humor was weird, the movie itself was pretty good and original. i always find foreign films portrayal of americans to be amusing.
i may have seen downfall, i was probibly high at the time so it may have been another hitler movie entirely.

Yeah, when we're introduced to Not-Sarah Palin's Campaign Director for the first time in the flesh, the way she takes off her glasses, tells her team to leave (apart from the department heads), and then starts shouting at them is a very obvious shout out to Hitler's outburst in Downfall/Der Untergang. Her hand even trembles as she takes off her glasses in the same weird way that Hitler does in the film.

The best part about that scene is that Götz Otto stands in the exact same spot as he did in the original, wearing a ridiculous coat and a fake mustache. Bet you missed that one! :)
-
I thought this movie was about 1/3 good and 2/3 average.

Damn, you have me there, I did miss that :P

EDIT: Insert warning about shouting and profanity; if you are at work, you may wish to turn your speakers down or something.

Iron Sky's parody (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D35tR_cR0ww)
Bunch of hilarious downfall parodies (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hitler+downfall&page=&utm_source=opensearch) (Just go down the list and click on anything that looks rather odd or perhaps amusing; if they did a good job with the remake, you will likely not be disappointed if you are looking for some quick laughs. Like Hitler gets banned from XBOX Live (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfkDxF2kn1I).)

Shameless :bump:
The US release of Iron Sky has finally arrived, but there's a catch. To see it in your local theater you need to demand it. Detailed instructions can be found here: http://us1.campaign-archive2.com/?u=5acd0c89d06f33526c787ef3c&id=8d56ac8c7a
