Hello all, I do hope that I am posting this in the right place...
I'm encountering a show-stopping issue in the Derelict SCP campaign. At the beginning of the 3rd mission (the first Red Alert mission, the second beacon dropping mission) I cannot move my fighter at all and the center of my HUD (reticle, afterburner, primary capacitor, etc.) is just plain gone. When I hit my afterburners I see the standard screen-shake but I don't even move one meter. I've tried using the mission skipping cheat code and the same issue happens on mission 4 as well. I have tried using...
FSO 3.6.12
FSO 3.6.12d (CTD on that mission instead of the above issue, no messages)
FSO 3.6.14 RC5
FSO 3.6.14 RC6
This is using a brand new pilot.
This is all with MediaVPs 3.6.12
I am not experiencing any issue like this in the other mods I have tried. I have tried runing missions from FS2 w/Media VP's, FSPort, ST:R, BP:AoA, BP:WiH, Vassago's Dirge, and WoD to see if the issue is present elsewhere.
I have tried disabling all options in the launcher as well to no avail. I have also tried a fresh installation of FreeSpace as well as installation onto a freshly reformatted PC.
Both PC's are Windows 7 x64 and both are Nehalem-class Core i7's. One is using a GTX 460 and the other a GTX 580. (not that this should matter)
Any ideas? Thank you everyone for your time.

That sounds like the red alert bug.

Thank you, TheForce. I FREDed the Red Alert flag out of mission 3 and I do not have an issue anymore. But wasn't the Red Alert Bug fixed back with 3.6.10?
-
Wait what.
Red alert bug has never been fixed in trunk. A fix will be part of the new pilot code that is still in Antipodes though.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I don't think the pilot code will ever be cleared for trunk until the red alert bug is fixed anyway.

I think there was a fix for a specific type of red-alert bug back in 3.6.10 or so, but obviously the overall issue still pops up.

I installed and played Derelict just last week and ran into no such issue. That is strange. When did you download the campaign? Did it come with both of the patch .vps?
Mediavps 3.6.12, 3.6.14 RC6, brand new pilot.

Can anyone give me the gist of what the Red Alert Bug is/what it looks like? Just so I can identify it in the future (and possibly avoid it if possible).

Basically, when you start a Red Alert mission, you don't find yourself in the ship you're supposed to be flying, nor with the loadout you're supposed to have. Everything that should be carried over from the previous mission is mixed up, most of the time from the content of another red alert mission you would have played before with that same pilot.
