I need a link to the collada importer for pcs 2.0.3
I can import .dae with 2.1, but I use 3ds max, and even when i do everything correctly,(including the xform) nothing shows up in the editor.
Please help me!!!

I don't have an answer for you, but I do have an off-topic question:
Is there a reason why your potentially-useful-for-other-newcomers threads disappear?
We don't usually delete stuff around here, even horrible cluster****s of hate and flame tend to simply get split-locked, and your threads were actually quite interesting, and would help new modders asking themselves the same questions you did.

I have just started in HL, so I will probably make mistakes.
Please excuse my actions for now.

Are you using the .fbx (the built in one) exporter or the OpenCollada exporter? If you're using .fbx, you need to use OpenCollada, which doesn't come as a part of Max. You can get it here: http://opencollada.org/download.html
-
No i am not talking exporting from max. I already have that exporter and am not using the built in one. I am talking about importing those .dae files into pcs 2.0.3
-
PCS2 supports collada.
is your main model called detail0 ?
-
oooohhhhhh it has to be called detail 0. Ok i can work with that. Thankyou!!!
-
PCS2 only seems to pick up objects beginning with either detail or debris when it imports dae, everything else seems to be ignored, sub-objects can be called anything though, but it just leaves you with a blank screen as though you never asked it to load a file
-
IT IMPORTED!!!
Thankyou sooooo much.
Now how do I get turrets onto my test cube without making them in max?
I heard some people telling me I could do all of the turreting in pcs.
-
The mesh has to be done in the modeling program but the rest is easiest done in PCS2
-
reset???
-
Please calm down, in max, link the turrets to your cube called detail0.
-
Is there any way to get these turrets without actually making them, like importing the orion .dae and taking the turrets off or something?
-
with newer versions of PCS2 you can import, but knowing how to create and attach turrets is a very useful skill, I believe it is not to difficult in max and it will make creating capital ships much easier.
-
This would be my first capship, so i would like to make it easy just to make sure i am importing\exporting and such correctly. I have pcs 2.1 Alpha, so how might I import these turrets exactly. Would i steal them off the actual orion model in pcs, or would i have to load it in pcs and then do something?
-
Go to objects and then hit import, select the orion POF, and then select the turret object to import.
You can do it all in PCS2.
-
One more tiny question. I have got this turret into pcs2 (Thankyou very much so far, it has worked perfectly!)
No i just need to move it onto the hull. It is way off in the distance.
-
its the offset line in the object's properties
-
Okay i see it.
Are those cooridnates. How would i get it onto the hull.
-
Just change the numbers, they represent its coordinates in cartesian space (3D), so pick a point on the hull where it would sit, and set its coordinates to that.
in short, just change a number and see what it does!!!!!

that or you could come to my house, drop off $6,000,000,000 and I'll give you the version of PCS2 with the "read my mind and place it on the hull exactly where I want!" button. It's awesome, but too bad it only works once.
-
One more thing.
How do i rotate it in pcs2.
-
Top right corner when your object is selected. Hit Transform. There you can rotate it.
-
Ok thanks for the help.
I will also be saving up for that piece of software you got, cause i really do need it! :D
-
Awesome!
Have fun turrenting All The Things.
