Oh hello. I'm pretty sure that most people here have atleast played the one-shot mission 'the blade itself' and had ever hoped to take command of a capital ship once more. I give you all a one-shot mission myself as more or so of a test run
I do admit that this mission is nowhere as good or large as the above, it can last for little as under 10 minutes at it has a pretty straight plot. To make a comparassion, I would say it be more or less of a capital ship version of the first mission on the retail campaign. Well here you go, enjoy.

(I hope to God it works :banghead:)

My first thought when playing this was "Hot damn I turn slow."
My second was "AARGH STOP COLLIDING".
My third was "Why do these freightors keep dying so quickly"

Alright I finally got around to playing this.
There are a number of errors with it. One being that you have a deimos.pof which uses mediavps_3612, yet you don't have a mod.ini with mediavps in the secondary list. The result is an invisable deimos because the textures are not listed.
Another issue is that your missions, tables, models etc are not under data. They needed to be put in the right place in the mod folder to work properly. If you're curious about how to make a mod folder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oELAvuOC2fE&feature=plcp :nervous:
You get additional errors if you run the mission, such as "A ship must have primary weapons" but those can be overlooked.
When I actually got the mission to work it turned out to be pretty fun. The goal of the mission seems to be to position your deimos between the attacking NTF and your escort ships. I managed to protect all but one of the ships until the 'end' of the mission. After the wave with the Leviathin the events simply stop and no more enemy wings deploy, no rtb directive no nothing. I looked at the mission in fred and it seems like you had more planned such as a nasty bomber attack. Did you test this mission before releasing it? At any rate, I most likely would have lost my escort under that much NTF punishment.
I recommend anyone who plays this to use . / * 'Enter' on the number pad to fiddle with the camera so you can best see what's going on in game.

Thanks for the advice amigo
Huh. I tried to rip the 'mediavps' Deimos model instead of the regular old root fs2 one. The latter results in a very outdatted model so I tried to go for the more shinner version. I guess I forgot to include the map files for the 'shinner' deimos with it.
Thanks for the vid. Not sure how to bypass the 'ship must have primary weapons' inconvience though.
Yeah...that was pretty much the idea. The Deimos with all of it's anti-fighter defenses (coped futhur with the blue planet ai) and the thing is a living nightmare for any fighters, and this mission could either by very difficult or very easy. I kinda narrowed it down to a singular path (as in like you do it this certain way, you win, if not you lose) because I was afaird to branch out. The key was to save your squadren from the first wave (like you said, position yourself inbetween them) so they can take out the other wings. Huh, I did put a bomber attack that was supposed to arrive some time after the fighters showed up to take advantage of the chaos to score some hits on your deimos, and a levithian to keep you busy and/or distracted.
After the ship were destroyed, all what's left was some refrense to the first mission of the retail fs2, with the psmatik vs a deimos, with the psmatik arriving shortly to gun down a hostile deimos. I did test the mission, but I must of overlooked a few details.
Although, I regret not putting any tutorials or anything else to help people with in...I went under the assumption that people that tried this played 'the blade itself' from blue planet and could easily figure this rather quickly.
Thanks for the pointers.

Quite a short mission, but I liked it very much. I'd love to see more missions like this.

To get around the no weapon thing give the Deimos pof a gunpoint and make it carry this weapon as a primary.

would like to try it but cant figure out how to make it work :( where im supposed to extract those files?

I liked it. Got the convoy wasted on the first try, but second try was a perfect escort. I would have liked to have seen a little more Deimos vs. Deimos action before the Psamtik arrived though.

Cool mission! ;)

Well it's happy to see that reaction to this is overall positive and that I didn't f* up too much for my first mission I made. Time and stuff however have been edging away at me and that explains my long absence: it might not be a very long while till I release another. Thanks for all the feedback though.
