You know, the big green wireframe ball... How is that effect done? I ean, when you look ate the model in modelview, it's not a wireframe model at all, it's like any ither model, just all green. Is there a way to give this appearance to a model?

Hardcoded wireframe. If you just look at the wireframe version of the model, it'll show the node. This is what the game sees.
Or it's pure green except for the wires, which are a slightly different green. That would mean that only the wires show.

Actually, I remember someone trying to change the warphole pof, and it just - didn't. It was hardcoded. This could be the same, but no harm in trying. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I'd like to see someone have a go at it... I mean, that node is SO boring compared to, say, the B5 jump gates.... let me know if anyone makes any progress on this...

Mmh, do you just put a new model and it automatically applies a wireframe map to it, or is it something else?

There is the Jump Gate POF, it isn't wireframe by itself, but FS is hardcoded to display the model in wireframe. So, you should be able to change the shape, but it will always be a wire model. That still leaves room for some cool changes. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
And as for changing the Warp-in, that was me. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) There is a warp POF, but the game abandons it in favor of a textured flat-cone primitive.

Damn if there wasn't those stupid voodoo crads, I would use transparent maps and the pb would be no more...

I tried, I put the knossos as he subspacenode.pof, and it still loaded the subspace node :-/

How'd you do that?

Step 1: Took a ton of toruses with a .9 inner radius and threw them together.
Step 2: Threw on a random tex
Step 3: Converted it to POF
Step 4: Converted it to FS2 and renamed it 'subspacenode'

I want to make one composed of 3 interlocking rings, but if I know it doesn't work, well it's useless

That is too cool... I'm gonna have to play with this some... now, when you keep mentioning that the Knossos is hella-huge, are you saying that doing this also affects the size of it, or just that the Knossos is huge normally, so it makes for a large jump gate....?

Should have no effect on size except the way I was doing it, and that's only because TS1 screws w/ the size of things.

Size is the same, it doeasn't move, that would require a tbl, and there is none, and yes, the knossos is hella huge, and makes everything look small in game.
