Title: Freespace Open Eyefinity enabled?
Post by: Meatball on July 21, 2012, 03:25:04 pm
It's come for me to upgrade my system and I'm upgrading it bigtime. Buying 3 monitors for Eyefinity to get a much more immersive gaming experience.

Freespace would be awesome with Eyefinity, so just one question. Will Eyefinity work with Freespace Open?

If the question is : can FS run on a f*ckton of monitors, the answer is : yes, it can. You can set the resolution manually with the -res command line flag, and it should behave better across several monitors if you add -fullscreen_window too. Be ready to deal with the ingame interface horribly stretching across the space you're going to offer it, though.

Wasn't the HUD stretch fixed?

I'm not talking about the HUD but stuff like the mainhall, briefing room, loading screen... Those are still 1024x768 bitmaps.

Hm, yea. Would be nice if somehow it was possible to choose Main hall, briefing rooms and loading screens would be played on 1 monitor. And when the mission starts, it switches resolution.

That would be cool, though I have to imagine it would be a pain to code up.

no need to use the -res flag just select your res in the launcher

Hud stretch is fixed by a customised hud_gauges.tbl in data\tables

The resolution is not always available here. I know that I have a dual screen setup with a 1920x1080 and a 1366x768 screen, and I'd have to set the res manually if I wanted to use both for FS (although why I would want to use such a setup is beyond me :p).
