Title: Customizing the HUD, how to???
Post by: Meatball on July 23, 2012, 12:53:59 am
There is so many threads out there about HUD customization so a Noob like me whom just plays the campaigns have no idea what you guys are talking about. So please forgive me

I'll try make my wishes simple to understand  ;)

* I like the HUD (The windows positions and High resolution) that is used on Blue Planet 2: War in Heaven. (For example that the Com Chat is more in the lower center aswell as the Com Video Link.)
How can I transfer this to other campaign mods? I play at 1920x1080 with my 16:9 screen.

* I've sometimes noticed on videos that It's possible to customize the HUD's colors more than it allows you in the Options Menu. For example the 'Current Speed' Gauge is one color, while the Big Reticle or whatever behind it is another. One example is at the Commentary Videos. It looks really Cool and is for me more convenient.
Skip to 3 minutes something and then you notice the blue gauge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoXpMuj5kS4&feature=relmfu

Hopefully, you understand what I mean... And btw, on the video, the HUD is the original FS2 HUD, not the HD HUD that is now available when you play BP2:WiH.

Go here: Hud_guages.tbl Wiki page (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Hud_gauges.tbl)

That table is used to define all "built-in" HUD gauges and icon look/behavior, including color.

You should encounter no serious trouble if you just take the WiH whatever-hdg.tbm table from BP2's vps and drop it into a mod folder. Just use a debug build to make sure it doesn't raise warnings on your face.
