Only took 4 hours to make... but got something out of the Makerbot Replicator.

Needs some sanding and TLC, would look better.

FINALLY!
There's no how many times that 3D printer wouldn't work before.
Cheers, mate!
BTW, did they figure out what was causing it not to work before?
-
Yeah the MB Cupcake unit is a giant heap of fail.
Still took 2 test prints before I got this out of the replicator.
-
How's the tail end looking? Can't really see through all of the support material...
-
not good, too thin, didn't do much but 1 layer that's stringy.
gonna sand it eventually.
-
Rstar made some too.

hey those are cool

That's actually pretty nice. At first it almost looked like you made that Pegasus out of pastry cream. :D

Wait, waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait-
How in the hell did you get a 3D printer? How much did it cost? How much does the resin material cost? I'm flabbergasted!

I dont know if they are using or a commercial model but this is a cool way to go about it http://www.reprap.org/wiki/Main_Page

If you search around you probably have a hackerspace around you, and they tend to have
the low end personal 3D printers.
The Pegasus was printed off a Makerbot Replicator, the other two were ordered through a 3D printing service
where you get bids on what you want to make. I tried a Makerbot Cupcake before the Replicator and it's frankly a piece of trash.
Reprap is one, Makerbot another.... there are quite a few out there. The pro units are in the several thousands (USD) and up into the hundreds of thousands
to purchase. Schools and specialty businesses have them.... or Jay Leno.

Colleges and Universities, especially. I swear freshman flock to that like sheep.
-
really need to build these at 2x current scale, then the detail bits would be there
-
Wow, this is really cool.
Are you going to putty these, or sand and carve them prior to the painting?
-
The pegasus one is mine, so perhaps eventually. I've got a printer now so I may experiment with some better ones.
