Title: How to fix this?
Post by: Legate Damar on July 27, 2012, 01:59:41 pm
I added a new ship to the ships.tbl in the mod I was working on, but it turns out I had set the "player_ship" flag incorrectly (forgot the underscore  :banghead:) so I went into FRED to edit a mission, and I changed the ship type of the player ship from the menu into the new type, but it said something like "not a valid player ship type, resetting ship to non-player ship". So I went back and fixed the table, but now FRED still says "incorrect number of player ships". I tried opening the ship in the ship editor and clicking "set as player ship" but it doesn't seem to have done anything and I keep getting the error. Help please?

When fred starts throwing errors like these at you, notepad is your best friend. Just edit the mission file in notepad and fix whatever it is that bugs the player ship.

Yep. You can use a working mission as reference as necessary.

What the man said. I think I encountered roughly the same issue a couple years ago and fixed it by editing the mission directly through notepad++.

Thank you, that seems to have done the trick.

This new fighter is pretty awesome, too. If only I had a worthy opponent to test it against... like, say, CSA Celestial.

(I kid, I kid)  ;)
