From now on all net denizens shall use "Avoided the moose, hit the bear"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19288749
A Norwegian driver who tried to avoid crashing into a moose hit a bear instead, a wildlife official said.
The accident took place on Wednesday night on a rural road 225km (140 miles) north of Oslo, in Hedmark county.
While the driver escaped uninjured, a search party was tracking the bear after finding traces of blood, local wildlife official Svein Erik Bjorke told the Reuters news agency.
Norway is home to around 100,000 moose and 150 brown bears.
The driver spotted the moose around midnight near Hanestad village and tried to steer around the animal, when a bear suddenly ran in front of his car.
"The driver had lost a bit of speed as she tried to avoid the moose before hitting the bear," Mr Bjorke told Reuters.
"We are currently tracking the bear and we have found traces of blood indicating internal injuries."
The driver's car sustained some damage in the accident. The moose managed to flee the scene unharmed.

dear god, now i can't think of anything related to the OP.
-
yeah, i'm thinking the moose was the fire here.

[Terrible attempt at humor not worth the space to duplicate.]
So the thread couldn't go through one reply without gross misogyny? You couldn't have waited until at least a few people had enjoyed the ridiculousness of the situation before acting like an absolute bellend?

You're probably right, actually. Most of the bear's mass is going to be lined up quite well with a passenger car's crumple zone, so that the car absorbs the impact the way its designed to do. Hitting a moose, the front end of the car just knocks away the legs, while the moose's torso stays largely stationary, until it encounters the car's windshield, where a car is not meant to take such a hit. Where hitting the bear is like hitting another car, hitting a moose is more like having another car dropped on top of your own. It's actually something that car manufacturers selling in the extreme northern latitudes have been trying to deal with for quite some time, with little success.

Christ, and I thought dodging deer was bad enough. :eek2:

Oh I agree with that. But it's not like she saw both and had to choose which one to hit, she'd already swerved round the moose and was probably in full "I'm going to LIVE!" mode when suddenly "BEAR!"
And the other thing is with only 150 bears in the country, she still managed to have one in the wrong place at the wrong time. :D

Since everyone has already made it clear what they thought of Rodo's attempt at humour, I won't take any other action other than warning him not to do it again, and asking everyone else to return to the main topic.

No no, it's okay as long as you don't do it ever again.

i have nothing against a little politically incorrect humor, however tasteless. im not one of those who would resort to the mob mentality of ganging up on people who jokingly make statements against a certain group of people. sure making sexist statements like that on a board full of those with left wing sentiments is probibly a dumb and asinine thing to do and nothing good will come out of it. but there are worse things you can be that a sexist, for example, a monkey in an angry mob. youre all a bunch of sexistists.
it is however a minor violation of the forum rules, worthy only of the slightest of warnings. a simple moderatory pm and a simple "thats not cool" would have sufficed.

No. You get out.
An admin requested that people do not continue to dogpile on Rodo. What part of "and asking everyone else to return to the main topic." did you fail to understand.
Furthermore why post something in violation of that order that added nothing to the conversation? Enjoy being monkeyed for 3 days.
And everyone else, I seriously mean it. Stop dogpiling on Rodo, he made a tasteless joke and he's pretty much apologised.
EDIT : And I don't mean start dogpiling on NGTM-1R either. :p

The brutal dog-piling of NGTM-1R..... He's so dog-piled, that you can't even see him!

In other business, I'd like to propose that we end the practice of dog-piling and begin the practice of moose-piling. As it turns out, it takes far fewer moose than dogs to thoroughly pile a person, which would result in a marked increase in forum efficiency.
