Title: mac keyboard problem
Post by: batav on September 11, 2012, 01:12:07 am
Hi,
the touch 1 don't work under the game! It's working fine anyware else.
I'm not talking about the number pad but the 1/& button.

It's the same with all the numbers, and I need it to communicate !

Is there any trick ?

I don't know what you mean by "the touch 1". Is that the 1 on the top row of number keys, above the keys that have letters?

What kind of keyboard do you have?

Also, is this a full keyboard or a laptop keyboard?

And no, there shouldn't be any special keys that you have to press to be able to use the number keys, unless there's something unusual about your keyboard.

Being precise is good. :)

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with international keyboard layouts and their compatibility with the game, so hopefully someone who is can add their thoughts.

It sounds like the game doesn't recognize whatever character is sent when you press the "1" key as a "1".

Here's a quick test that you might want to try: Go to the in-game options menu, then go to the Control config (along the bottom of the screen). Click on "search" (upper-right of the screen) and type "1" using the "1/&" key. What command, if any, is found as bound to that key? The default is "(Multiplayer) Message All" in the Misc list of commands.

Another test to try in Control config: go to the Misc list of key commands, then scroll down to the end of the list, and try binding one of the last few commands in the list (say, Top-Down View or Target Padlock View) to the "1/&" key. After you do that, what character appears in the menu as bound to that command? Is it a "1", or is it something else?

Well, it's good that you have at least one solution. Based on this discussion (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2512015), I was going to suggest trying Shift+1 or Ctrl+1 (use Right Ctrl, since Left Ctrl is for firing guns) and see if that worked.

I found a best way I think 8 :)
I use ukelele to create a new keyboard layout and that's works fine !

But there is a last problem !
How to change F2 key to get ingame option ? It is not in the control menu...

I don't think you can change it from F2. :blah:

The other F-keys that can't be changed (as far as I know) are also sometimes useful, and hotkeys in general (F5-F12?) can also be useful, so you might still need to have access to the F-keys.

What he said. The menu keys (F1 for help overlay or ingame objectives, F2 for settings, F3 for ship lab or ingame F# hotkeys, F4 for in-game logs) are hardcoded.
