Title: NE shockwaves.
Post by: --Steve-O-- on September 12, 2012, 09:52:07 pm
The good Col.Hornet was looking for this shock wave effect in the ED forum so i figured i would post it here in modding to simplify its proliferation. This is the blue version of nighteyes shockwaves complete with .eff file. the frames are .DDS formated however when i was converting them from frame by frame from the original TGAs (i don't have a good batch converter that wont vomit and pass out when fed .dds textures) i forgot to set the DXT compression...so, they are not compressed........at all........my bad. :banghead:
so that being said, if anybody does happen to re-batch these with proper compression please post the updated version. that would be most awesome.

ATI's The Compressonator. (http://developer.amd.com/Resources/archive/ArchivedTools/gpu/compressonator/Pages/default.aspx) I converted to TGA then back to DDS because I didn't want to deal with overwriting and... ya, but it does DDS -> DDS. Either way, under 30 seconds for all of it.

Anyway, this work? http://www.mediafire.com/?q5513nmfyqd4ced

How do I do that? (I used the Compressionator) Is it only coded for ATI cards?

I would assume so since it was made by ATI, not AMD. In theory nVidia has the ability to do this too, but it's command line.

Anyway, my settings and the GPU usage (~20% for my 6970) during the compress:
