Post by: Madrox on September 15, 2012, 01:48:32 pm
So, today im strating a new adventure on the wonders of FRED, so i really don´t know much about tat.
BUT, im doing the FRED 2 freedocs to guide me .
My question is: When i finish the mission, where do i save it?
Another question: after im done with the basics, where do i go?

You save in data\missions (data is generally found within your specific mod folder).

As for more advanced stuff, well, there're a couple of advanced tuts (check out Axems and Battutas on the first page of this very subforum). But the best way to learn is to come up with something you want to do and take a crck yourself. Then practice, practice, practice.

well, you can post yours missions to the missions & campaigns board. sadly not many even download and play single missions anymore...

I do. When I have the time, that is.

If you have Diaspora, there is another walkthrough bundled with that which covers some more advanced topics than the Retail FS2 one covers.

Well, i think i will need some help, im having some problems with SEXP and Events D:.
can i continue  to make m questions here?
So, i did all the script nessesary and i tested in the freespace 2.
the script was suposed to make 4 transports dock in a Cruiser one by one, tranfering its cargo of marines to the cruisers then undock and warp out, when 2 of them sucessfully dock and tranfer the cargo to the cruiser, they would take control of the cruiser and escape by the node (i, still doing this last part), if 1 of them is destroyed the next one would do the same thing of the last one until we have no one more.

But when i destroy the frist one the other 3 warp out,  if its the second one the 3° and the 4° jumps, it was supósed to dock, transfer, undock, warp-out.

Anyone know what happened?

obs: i can upload the mission if you guys want.
obs²: im expecting im not being too annoying, im really new at all this.
obs³: the tutorial do not show exacly what i had to do, so i did some copy/paste of the first event to the other three.
obs4: sorry about my english, this is not my natural language and i learned almost entirely in self-taught, so i have some problems with the grammar. :/

Where can i find this walkthrough?

You'd need to install Diaspora (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=81859.0). It's a big download but if you like Battlestar Galactica or playing Freespace you'll probably love it anyway. The walkthrough is available via FRED same as it is for FS2.

As for your questions, no you aren't being annoying, a lot of people seem to get stuck on that particular part of the walkthrough for some reason. We probably will need to see the mission to know why you've gone wrong though, so uploading it will help.

The link to the mission: http://www.mediafire.com/?rgw569bi33c16n3

I saw BSG until 3° season, i ahve all downloaded here, but i am too lazy to rewatch everything. D:
A friend of mine said the ending was not too good tough...

Well, i already downloaded diaspora and played some missions, really cool, how do you made the primary weapons awaws hit the target at some distance?
