Title: Update of the Zenith Model
Post by: WraithHost on June 20, 2001, 02:40:00 pm
OK I took a few of the tips and fixed a few problems brought in by the poly reducer.
Now it comes in at 540 polys.
I made the 'shoulder mounts' recessed to cut down poly count I figure at 90 clicks a Texture will look as good as actuall recessed areas of the model.
here is how it looks now:  (http://www.red-phil.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/zenith2.jpg)

I like it... when can we see some textures?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

May I suggest you make it look like the Valkyrie Interceptor, from FS1, it has that head.  It'll look super in a very light tan/brown color  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Textures coming as soon as I figure out how to do it. This is my first try at modeling you know. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

It is excellent for your first model!!!  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Hmm... wouldn't you like to work for me??  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

That does look quite a bit better. One thing I would suggest is trying to smooth out some of the lines. Right now from the views you've shown it has a bit of a 'crumpled paper' look to it. I usually spend more time smoothing the lines of a model I've made than I did making the origional geometry, but it pays off with something that looks really good and non-faceted without requiring a huge poly count. That said, that is just about the best looking and most origional first model i've seen posted here. Much better results then trying to crank out a model every day with only a couple hours of work put into it.

excellent design, looks a bit familiar somehow.  can't quite place my finger on it, though I think I remember a similar design from SW.  probably a TIE.  at any rate, great work on the model.  if the textures are half as great as that is you'll have campaign leaders begging for you to work for them.  hope to se more of your work later on (along with some of mine  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) )

Homeworld Taiidan Defender, with a little bit of this V-38 stealth TIE. But a nice design.

Amazing job...  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Reminds me of the Terran Wraith from StarCraft.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
