Well, c'mon, it has the logo and everything. At least those phishers are trying... sort of. It's hard for them, they can't all pretend to be Nigerian royalty, y'know.

Apparently people are slightly illiterate and/or don't actually pay attention... to anything... at all.   :nono:

It's an old adage in UI design that people will completely ignore error messages. The same is true of these emails; as long as they conform to what the victim expects these things to look, their critical faculties will not be engaged at full strength.

The fact that email in general is laughably insecure is another matter.

If just one person out of one thousand actually does it and gives up their log-in info, it's worth it to the scammer. It seems blatantly obvious to us, sure, but remember how many tragically stupid people actually do exist out there.

Specially when someone phones you saying "We've detected errors on your Windows Operating System"
ORLY

I prefer the phone call phishers. They're a lot more fun to mess with

I do agree with the fact stupid people are out there, but there are also those ignorant ones who know nothing about computers (and yet use one... or at least try). They don't know any better since they don't know what the devil they're doing in the first place
