Title: Player/Pilot files in FSO
Post by: Doctor Robert on September 24, 2012, 11:28:06 pm
Hi there,

Does anybody know where the Player/Pilot files are stored in the latest version of FSO?  The Player directory is mostly empty (except for HUD files and the like).

FSO has long running issues with windows vista/7 and the way they protects the Program Files and Documents folders, the usual advice to straight copy the freespace folder to something like C:\Games\ and see if that remedies any issues you are having. no reinstallation should be required.

there have been discussions about how to fix these compatibility issues but to my knowledge nothing has been formalised.

The pilot files have probably been saved to a non-protected location. I forget precisely where they go under Win7, but headdie's solution should work fine.
