Really? I really enjoyed HFRO but I heard Sum was kinda not a good "Jack Ryan" movie, basing it off of CaPD and PG anyways. Still gonna see it though :D

Sum of All Fears was a pretty good movie, I liked it!... But I'll have to give probably one of the top 3 movies I've seen this year to Bad Company with Chris Rock and Anthony Hopkins.  That movie was incredibly good I think... funny, serious, had all of the best parts of a good movie! :)

I got pressured into going to see Scooby Doo last night, (I had not choice, honestly) (what can you do when two girls (blonde may i add) 'make you' and then sit on either side of you so you won't 'escape'... geez, i love this! ;) jp) I mean, I'd wanted to see it just because, but I didn't want to see it the weekend it came out...  nonetheless it was a pretty good movie, very much like the cartoons in the way the characters acted, talked, etc.!  Nonetheless, the eight of us were the only 'teenagers' in the audience... every little thing the characters do, all 120 kids start laughing ;)  nonetheless, "Daphne" kicks ass, and she's definately hot too, so that made up for it all :)

High Crimes was also an awesome movie!  Pretty scary if you think about it in reality.

Star Wars and Spiderman of course... two of the best three movies this year... I won't even go into these :)

Matt Damon in The Bourne Identity unfortunately I didn't get to see the day it came out, so I'm going this afternoon... this I think is going to be an awesome movie too!

The Others I'm going to see this evening...

The New Guy was a funny movie, with some really hot girls!!!  That made it a good movie, but very comical, as was Undercover Brother which had some VERY hot girls too, one in particular ;) but also funny :)
'Blackness confirmed, you got soul'

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron I refuse to see this movie... blondes or not!

Jennifer Lopez in Enough was a pretty good movie too, i saw it just because Jennifer Lopez was in it :) but it's a typical movie... about the same level as 'crossroads'... some good parts though

That's all the movies I've seen lately

I try to stick with PG-13 movies (everyone in the USA) (i don't know what ratings they use in the rest of the world)

anything below or above that i generally don't see (i.e. R, PG, G)
but there ARE exceptions, like Star Wars, which was PG, and Black Hawk Down, which was R...

i think onne of the coolest movies that has ever come out was Tombstone with a cast including Val Kilmer, Kurt Russel, and it's about the famous Wyatt Earp (peace officer) and "Doc" Holliday (gunfighter)

acting was superb, as was storyline... if you haven't seen it yet, it's called "Tombstone" go download it or watch it or something.

It's "R" rated by the way, so get your parents to watch it with you ;) lol jp :p  ;) :D

SOAF is not bad.  I just don't think Ben Affleck does a good job at the part of Jack Ryan, since he preceeds both Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford.  However, I prefered Clear and Present Danger with Harrison Ford and Willem DaFoe over The Hunt for Red October.

1.  Clear and Present Danger
2.  Hunt For Red October
3.  Patroit Games
4.  Sum of All Fears

Top ten for the year so far.

1.  Black Hawk Down
2.  Star Wars:  Attack of the Clones
3.  Sum of All Fears

I'll see Minority Report when it comes out.  Which I had that Lexus. :(

I don't suppose half the films Stealth has described are out here yet, I'm afraid. Which is damn annoying. :doubt: Still, why do you avoid R-rated films?

actually my mom and dad don't like me seeing R-rated movies that much, and i don't really mind, since most R-rated movies don't appeal to me anyway... it depends what the movie's about, and who's acting in it, et.

Bush wouldn't come to Baltimore for anything, Maryland is mostly democratic I do believe, if I'm wrong smack me. He just stays in D.C. and waves to us. I am kinda proud Baltimore gets blown to bits though, in some odd morbid way

i saw the preview a million times.  in the theater, the only thought going off in my head was: the bomb will go off later.  theyll show some shmuck buying som cigs and THEN boom.  not jaw droppingly sudden.  The audience was shocked when it went off, you could literally hear their jaws drop and hang open.

Although not haviong seen the film (it not out here yet) I must say two things:

1) It hasn't got Harrison Ford, sorry but he IS Jack Ryan

2) The book is probably better (but then again don't they always say that). Plus I could be wrong, discuss.

That might be true. My friend atleast said so. In the book, the terrorists are infact Muslim Extremists, however after 9-11 they chaged it to another faction... Oh well. Still an ok movie. Except for one thing that bugs me... They totally ripped off the musical soundtrack from Crimson Tide! I mean when I heard the main theme I was like "Hey, I know this tune!" So I started humming it before the ques to prove my point... But my friends just stared at me... :D Anyway, apart from stealing of a music it was ok. Having not seen any of the trailers either, I was quite suprised when that nuke did go off. I was expecting the usual cliché COUNTDOWN TO 3-1 seconds and cutting the RED wire or something. But to have it go BOOM was a great suprise.

:D:D:D from me.

if thats the case, then it was hans zimmer that did the music and he borrows from himself  for most of the EXCELLENT scores he does, ie Crimson Tide, the Rock, Face Off, Armageddon, The Peacemaker (his best IMO) among others.  I'd tell you to get them off of audio galaxy, but......

In the book, didn't Musilm extremists crash a nuclear bomb laden airliner into congress, killing the President.  And Jack Ryan was by then the Vice President.

Yeah I know who did the the music for Crimson Tide, although he didn't do the music for Armageddon nor Face Off. I think that was Mark Mancina, who did the music for Bad Boys. But what suprised me was the guy credited in "Sum" was Jerry Goldsmith! Another good composer, but it still wasn't his own music. But its true, Zimmer does borrow ques from his earlier work sometimes, but usually he makes new ones. One of his best soundtracks has to be Gladiator I think. I also got them all on CD. What can I say, I a total film music freak! :D

Whoops, it was Trevor Rabin who did most of armageddon, zimmer did a few tracks, but they're both with Media Ventures (why do I know that?)  And zimmer took Gustav Holtz's the Planets, Mars specifically, and turned that into gladiator

Title: poopy
Post by: Star-Epock on June 24, 2002, 08:37:44 am
SPIDERGUY is a Poopy film. The people who made this realized this, so they hyped it majorly. That means you all automaticaly think its good (beacause you think everyone else does) which is a vicious circle, in which everybody wins. Just for the wrong reasons....

There was a film called Spawn with a plot about as original as spider mans, and just as crapy. Fortunatly it wasnt hyped, and therefore didnt survive for long at the cinema.

Also the main guy in "AracnidBoy" had this annoying straight top lip. With no lip. So did the bird in it. If I have to spare at a subtly moving top lip gain ill shoot myself. Again.

Spider Geek has three horrible flaws.
1. Two main characters with no upper lips.
2. A bady who is defeated in part by my New Yorkers hurling cans and metal bars (they just happened to have) at him.
3. As much plot as a lawn.

I hate it when loads of money is wasted on crapy plots and scripts and many great films never recive the aclaim they deserve.

I liked spawn, there were some good elements in it.

Spider-Mans' plot was supposed to be like that, the entire design was that they wanted a film of the comic.

I'd also very much like you to learn some better adjectives other than "poopy" plus refer to the characters by their proper names.

The film represents literally thousands of man-hours of work and deserves a little respect.
Title: OT-The Sum of All Fears
Post by: Star-Epock on June 24, 2002, 09:06:32 am
Thats the joke though.

Have you ever read a Spiderman comic? It isnt like that, this spider man has a different character in my opinion. And thats whats most important if its for us comic people.

This film has suffered from the "Hey, wouldent it be cool if" factor experienced by many US budgeted films. Its not a film built around a story. Its  lots of "Cool Bits" grafted together.

Sometimes I wonder if there decent directors (some things are well done) with an evil little demon sitting on one shoulder, saying "hey [add dicector name] why not have him shoot lasers from his eyes?" Director "But this character dosent have laser eyes!" Demon "So what, weve got another few million to spend, and itd look so cool!!"

I cant think of an exaple off hand, but it happens alot, sadly.

Those thousands of man hours could have been better spent.

I admit I did laugh at "  GO WEB GO!   Though :P

Me thinks they will not be making this into a film anytime soon. Oh an the airliner has no nuk on board. Fuel (and a what 17th? century) stone brick building don't go well togther.
