Since Live Mesh is being discontinued and Skydrive shows no hurry to implement any of its features, I was wondering what remote desktop clients/servers you guys use and/or recommend.
-
For what purpose? Cloud storage stuff (docs et al) I use Drive. For remote desktop viewing, I use Teamviewer.
-
Windows comes with built-in Remote Desktop. Though home editions does not have the server. Teamviewer costs money. Free alternative would be TightVNC or UltraVNC.
-
Teamviewer is free for non commercial activities.

My father uses VNC, it seems to work well, at least on XP. I don't know about Vista, I'm the only one in the house who uses that (because I wanted the new DirectX), and I have no need for VNC.

yep, used it a couple of times to sort friends computers, and definitely free for private users.

Looool!
But yeah, TeamViewer ftw. No setup needed, works on-demand and uses bounce server connection setup so no need to expose ports the 'net to get it to work, unlike VNC and RDP. I use TightVNC at home but wouldn't use it over the Interwebs, nor would I use RDP. It's probably okay if you are just using it for a short period of time but leaving them exposed to the 'net for more than a brief period is dangerous, esp. over standard ports!

Another teamviewer user here, for the rare times I ever need to use it (read: when I can't run an ssh tunnel).
I picked it due to it's cross platform compatibility.

Teamviewer gets another vote from here aswell. Great software indeed.
