Title: Q3A>JKII
Post by: Thorn on June 18, 2002, 12:50:14 pm
Ok... I'm going to a LAN party tomorrow. Me and a friend always play Quake 3 there, and we always use Anarki and Klesk as out models... We're switching to JKII now because its pretty much the same, only with lightsabers and force powers.. What I want to do is convert Anarki and Klesk to JKII models..
I've etracted them from Q3A... shoved em in a pk3 file and tried it, but it doesnt seem to work... any help would be appreciated...

I think that's impossible (or at the very least illegal and time consuming) because:

1. JKII uses the Ghoul 2 model system, with skeletal deformation, instead of Q3A model deformation. You would need to "rewire" the models completely, and if you've seen the number of animations the JKII models use, you'll know it's damn near impossible.
2. All Q3A models, maps, and skins are owned my Id, and it would be illegal to distribute their models and skins for free.

I know this because I wanted to convert Xaero to JKII. (Tibetan monk cyborg with a lightsaber... ) For some decent skins and models, just go to http://www.jediknightii.net .

Its not illegal if you both own the game....

It's probably easier to create the models from scratch.
