Right, now that Audiogalaxy is gone can anyone suggest a good alternative to use? Top Gun has recommended Gnutella to me (which looks a bit complex, and I am quite retarded) but I'm also interested in seeing any other file-sharing thingies. What do you all use? And also, Why?
:nervous:
This doesn't fall under the remit of warez, does it?

Uhhh....it does fall under the remit of breaking the thickest, most rediculous and most restrictive law in the history of man, yes.
Bugger it...i'm writing about this and sending the news to indymedia :) time for me to be angry!!   :headz:

Since I'd be very surprised if everyone on the board (except maybe CP5670 :D) didn't 'steal' music in this way, so I doubt it'll face much trouble on this board. I hope. :)

Hmmm.... well, personally, I think Gnutella is one of the most powerful and best... Once you figure out how to use it :D

I'll give it a go by all means. I couldn't get Limewire to work for the life of me though... :(

WinMX is a good one....
Kazaa is.... well, it works... spyware is a pain though... and it stops working if you remove it...

Yeah, the bloody thing gave this computer a virus (via my brother's stoopid downloading, I think)...and it doesn't have much of a selection of music on it really. Just a whole truckload of porn. :p

The 3.2 version added a lot of good stuff (segmented downloading etc.)
www.winmx.com , in case you haven't figured that out yet.

Eh, I'd really recommend gnutella... Can't say I've used much else...
-
I'd reccomend Grokster and Gnucleus.
Oh, and if you REALLY know what you're doing, try Direct Connect.

I despise gnutella... never anything I want on it...

-
Win MX is the proggy to use.
-
Can't say I d/l music that much. When I do, though, I use winmx.

go get morpheus (http://start.musiccity.com/m19/index.html), it's the best, though I liked the old vertion better, and popup adds are a pain

Morpheus is just one of the many clients for Gnutella and not the best at that. It's run by a profit making company that makes its money by installing spyware with the thing (despite them saying it doesn't contain any). Go to www.gnutelliums.com for a full list of Gnutella clients (each one reviewed) for every major OS. I recomed downloading a small sourceforge project client. Not only do you support independant programmers but they're far less likely to contain nasties.
P.S. :- I think Limewire contains spyware.

Thanks for the Even More Tips. :D
I've downloaded WinMX and I'm looking through the Gnutella clients. I also got something from wEvil, which looks good. I'll be trying them all out. Thanks, everyone. :)

...which is why you download KazaaLite. :D It's basically a guy who got ahold of the Kazaa source or something like that and removed _all_ the spyware and adware crap. Works great, uses the Kazaa network, resumes Kazaa downloads, etc.

Actually, C|Net and other places have removed Kazaa from their download lists because it didn't abide by their "law" of requirements for honesty with users. And they have a number of articles about Kazaa Lite, so I don't think it would be a problem. :D

About two seconds of googlebashing should get you a few links to Kazza Lite. Mind, Kazza (un light) is hardly the most legal thing in the world (however mind bogglingly stupid and oppressive the law is) so it's rather hypocritical for them to denounce Kazza Lite as theft of their "interlectual property" isn't it?
