Title: 'Invisible' textures in PCS.
Post by: wistler on November 07, 2012, 03:54:32 pm
By playing around with the texture of the green marker found in Vassago Dirge I was wanting to create a range of markers for use in game. I've noticed that in PCS it claims the texture is 'invisible'. Is the texture being 'invisible' the reason you can't crash into the nav markers in game? If so how can I link a new marker model to a new texture whilst still having it appear as invisible in PCS.

The marker in vassago?s dirge uses a glowpoint. To change the texture it appears as just change the name of the file referenced by the glowpoint. The invisible texture is, literally, invisible.
The reason it doesn?t collide is because it has the no collide flag, though you could als use no collide invisible and invisible textures will not collide. :)

Okay this is totally off-topic, but since I was asked:
Sometimes, after typing in moonrunes, I forget to switch my language setting back to English, and I don't want to re-type the post.
Bad habit/forgetful/lazy. That is why.

Thanks for the info Droid. Quick follow up question: Is there a quick/lazy way of changing the size of a ship in PCS without having to use another program?

Select header in the list on the left, then go to near the top right corner : transform -> scale tab
This will scale globally along desired axes.

Selecting individual subobjects etc. will allow you to apply transformations to each.

Remember to recalculate MoI after scaling to avoid (potentially) strange behavior. I've never seen it happen but it doesn't hurt to be careful.

Not to sound completely dumb by being unable to follow your simple instructions, but I can see a transform --> scale tab  (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8338/8170429859_e4ffa7e531_b.jpg)
