'Mainstream' media sources like CNN generally aren't the greatest of sources for news, but one can occasionally find a worthwhile article anyway...

feeding the homeless is easy, just feed the dead ones to the live ones.
-
"The food you're getting might be unhealthy. So it's better you have no food at all!"
Why do I get the feeling that Bloomberg is only minutes away from Woody Allen Bananas-style shenanigans. "In addition to that, all citizens will be required to change their underwear every half-hour."
-
I generally like Bloomberg, but he is a little nutty sometimes.
-
Banning soda is a "little" nutty? :p
-
Well it's not quite underwear police level yet.
-
Bloomberg: A man who has never wondered where his next meal will come from.

It's pretty weird from a legal and economic standpoint, but from what my Scandinavian uberwomensch health researcher lab buddy tells me, it's looking like a better and better idea from the biology angle.

And use the dead live ones... as tires.

This is not a good time to ban food. Any chance he's trying to kill the homeless with cold, hunger, and misery?
With the superstorm, I would expect more people to depend on donations more than ever.
Can someone explain the idea behind this policy?
-
To make the underclasses desperate. The sounds they'll make rattling their cage will serve as a warning to the rest.
-
Please protest these biased, inappropriate laws by giving the homeless several king-sized Snicker's bars and 2-litre bottles of Coke.
That is all.

an article i saw on this said this decision dates back to march. seems to me like some people decided this is a politically convenient time to bring it up.

But that's junk food :blah:
-
it's packed with calories, which is what you need to stay alive.
-
that will justify putting flourine in the drinking water.

But that's junk food :blah:
It's a jab at NYC's policies on consumable products that in excess are unhealthy. Bloomberg argues that because the city cannot evaluate the nutritional value of donations, the donations shall stop. And then there's the ethically questionalble soda ban/regs.
-
Oh right, the soda thing. That was mentioned earlier in this very thread. Derp.
