Steam Autumn sale has started, introducing Valve's a new invention: Flash deals. They're fairly short lasting (8h left on the shortest ones as of this writing), and rather good, up to 75%. If you have good reflex, you can score some good deals. My dad just bought KoTOR II for my younger brother (who's big on SW games), and I think it's just the start.
-
If they offer "Legends of Pegasus" , DO NOT BUY IT.
It's a not working piece of code with some graphics attached. 2 Emergency patches have been released, then the devs gone insolvent. Promised and advertised features are not including, and the campaign has scripting errors that prevent you from continuing. Ai is nearly not existent, and only 1 AI slot is active in Sandbox mode.
THe entire game and advertising was a huge fraud on the customer, puplisher remains silent and gives no more statements, they are still selling it to gain some money for the shareholders.
Just wanted to warn you people.
(tragic, I waited so long for an ascendancy clone).
-
So far they haven't advertized anything I want terribly much...
-
fuuuuuuuuck not a sale
-

That's strange. The game is coming from Kalypso, which is a fairly good RTS publisher (OK, Patrician 4 was crash-prone, but Tropico and Imperium Romanum were rock-solid).
-
Just bought the add-on for Civ5...started a game as byzantine...and the game crashed...yeahha.
Time to reinstall the whole thing...if it doesn't work...reinstalling windows is due...
-
True Dragon, some games are not bad. But in this case, it was a huge action of fraud from the puplisher. I don't want to spam the HLP forum with it, you can check the official forum. At the release day (which has obviously been pushed because money run out) they already knew what will happen, because insolvency do not happen over night. But they were so "suprised" about the "status" of the game (which they claimed "runned through an official testing studio"), and they were "so suprised about the insolvency". Game is not working, floods of returns on Steam on Amazon, and they still selling it. It's a matter of misleading advertising (the promo ingame video show graphics and features not in the game, the AI and living universe is not existent). And after they said that the game is dead (1 month after release), they completly stopped talking to the LoP Customers. They just sit back, and wait till all users **** off, what they now did. Yet still, they sell the game.
I will never buy a game again from kalypso, and certainly not preorder anything anymore. The more time passed, the less you can trust the gaming companies. They just milking you were they can.
Just trust me in this guys, do not buy "Legends of Pegasus". It's not worth a single cent, since it's not even really moddable, source code will also not be released. You will loose your money.
-
So basically this is what Kerberos does. Okay.
-
No, Kerb fixed their game, and were honest about the status from the beginning, even if the release version was a desaster. Kalypso was lying from the very beginning, and still continues with their faked advertising and not communicating with people about the issue.
BTT :
Question to german players :
When I would buy Fallout3 GOTY Edition in the Steam Special Sale, will I then receive the violence-reduced german version ? I'm not interested in having something cut out. I already have Fallout3 the English version, but I do not have the DLC "officially". Anyone know this ? I'm a bit unsure about what I will receive when reading their textes. Unfortunately, Steam recognized "where" I'm from
-
It depends if the gore level is language-dependent or region-dependent, and if the game is language-locked. Though it's a big name title, so I guess the short answer is yes, you'd get a toned down version.
As for Kalypso, I hope LoP is only a one-off blunder. Most of their games are good, and for example, I'd buy the next Tropico eventually, just not on release, and not without a big discount on Steam (though TBH, this is my strategy for most games except the ArmA series, of which I like to have boxed versions. Too long exposure to Steam and it's sales can make you really cheap, to the point of 10 Euro seeming like a lot).
Also, anybody knows what's "Dear Eshter"? It certainly looks intriguing.

What ? Can you please check spelling ? Steam Search didn't turn up anything
-
He means Dear Esther. You walk around an island and watch little cutscenes from what I've heard.
-
Sounds boring, but hey, who care's?
I wrote a support ticket concerning the crashes of Civ5...
-
Company of Heroes is on sale for $2.49. Anyone who doesn't have it should get it, it's excellent.
-
Contemplating whether or not to buy The Witcher 2.
-
I saw that Recettear was on sale, which I've been wanting to try for a while, so I picked that up along with Chantelise. Also got both Portal games since I thought they were worth a try.
-
I saw Garry's Mod for 2.50$
Bought it with a prepaid with an unknown amount of money on it
Let the ridiculous roll
-

Buy. Good game.
-
So basically this is what Kerberos does. Okay.
That statement is wrong on so many levels... But I've given up on trying to reason here.
Haters gonna hate.
-
Tempted to buy Kotor 2. I lost my original discs and I have yet to play with the restored content

That's what I really want to do, too...
Curse you Steam, for making me spend money!

Grabbed May Payne 3 at a 75% discount.

It was all of $2.50 a day or so ago in a flash sale.
-
Yes, I did notice. I realized I wouldn't have time to play anyway.
-
I'm tempted to buy 3 copies of Awesomenauts (http://store.steampowered.com/app/204300/) to play with friends, if only the game is at least a quarter as awesome as that song...
Anyone played it?

Told ya to grab them while they're hot. :) My dad managed to get it at that price.
-
I grabbed a gift copy of Intrusion 2 when it was on flash sale, I'll figure out what to do with it later.
Because wolf (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hpfIEzTf3E#t=07m19s)
-
I didn't notice Kotor 2 was on flash sale. Looks like I'll hold on to my money then. Maybe Steam will have a Christmas sale
-
Entire Thief series is $6.75 in a temp flash sale.

Damn it, they're going to get me to cave, aren't they...

To The Moon (http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15373/). You need this game. (http://freebirdgames.com) All of you. Don't pass it up for any reason. Get it, play it. No excuses, do it now. I will never recommend anything this strongly again. DO it.
-
Kotor2 is awesome, I can really recommend it. it has a long and good story, and the game will bind you for many hours :) Also, there is a unofficial Addon that brings back some cut out features and also a widescreen patch. The game runs nice and fluid on 1920x1080. I guess it "should" work on the steam version too (not sure about that though :nervous:)
-
where's spec ops the line gabe

If I regret this purchase I am holding you responsible. (by that I mean I will complain on IRC for 40 minutes)
-
I caved in and bought the Witcher 2...
-

You will not regret it. Also, the music is a huge part of it, so make sure you can hear it.
EDIT: Although, it may destroy film and music for you, so you might regret that.
-
I caved in and bought the Witcher 2...
 Now buy Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
-
Yeah, Deus Ex HR is on ridiculously cheap today and it is a must play, easily one of the best singleplayer games of the last 3 years or more.

Even with those idiotically out-of-place boss-battles?
----------
Anyone know anything about this "Elemental: Fallen Enchantress" 4x MoM clone?
-
It's a bad game designed by a bad person, don't buy it (or anything from Wardell's company)
-
I took a gander and finally succumbed and bought Skyrim. The Trine Collection was also nabbed and finally Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. It'll be interesting trying that one out, being a Kunst Des Fetchens practitioner I'll probably be wicked overcritical and get pissed when I can't Zwerch and Krump like a boss.

Why is Brad Wardell a bad person?
-

OMG Steam, you're killing me...
-
I bought Gal Civ 2 for $5 O.O
-
I've finally made it a personal policy to not buy games whose prequels/originals I own but haven't played yet...it's just getting to be too much. So no ME2 or DE:HR this time around.
-
DE: HR is actually very standalone and no prior knowledge of Deus Ex is required.
-
DE: HR is actually very standalone and no prior knowledge of Deus Ex is required.
Indeed. It's actually better to play them chronologically than in sequence of release.
Also, it's $5. Get it.
-
Anyone who hasn't played Dragon Age: Origins has run out of excuses. The entire Ultimate edition is in a flash sale for $9.
-
I took a gander and finally succumbed and bought Skyrim.
I was tempted, but considering the number of other games I have yet have not yet played/finished, I can't justify it.... so, waiting for a GOTY edition.
-

And it's excellent. No seriously. Get it.
-
So, is the Fall of the Samurai stand-alone expansion to Shogun 2 any good?
-
I can't speak for the expansion pack, but the core game is quite excellent (excluding multiplayer issues).
-
So, is the Fall of the Samurai stand-alone expansion to Shogun 2 any good?
I'd say yes, but that's probably the naval combat system talking. (I'm still not reliable in land battles.)
-
Well, as long as my battles end up with either of lots of peasant riflemen chopped up by melee weapons or dead samurai shot to hell by lines of precisely-drilled elite riflemen (or Gatling gun batteries), I'll be happy.
-
I really loved that movie... And you just made me swallow my gum for whatever reason. :nervous:
On Dues Ex: I hear it's optimized pretty well?
-
Yep. It also uses deferred rendering so Lower Hensha is simply gorgeous from all the neon and giant TV screens.

Those points aside, I have a backlog of like 60 games, and I barely have enough money to cover Christmas shopping, so no, I'm still skipping this one. :p
-
We never asked for this (from you).
-
Bought Quantum Conundrum + expansion packs for $5 with 2 minutes to spare.

Anyway, I promised myself Human Revolution would be the last game I buy... at least until winter.
Damnit, the Witcher 2 just dropped $5. :blah:
-
Bastion is $4 for the next 10 hours or so.
