So I was curious to know when did the Raynor, the Titan, the Diomedes, the Chimera and the Belephoron all went into production or when were they released into the fleets.
But I couldn't find this information.
Was it never thought to that detail (made after Capella and that's it) or is the information in some obscure place I have yet to crawl to?

It's not mentioned anywhere because IIRC we haven't nailed it all down. It's one of those "If we don't need it for storytelling, don't define it" things.
-
I think there are at least some ordinal hints in the ship and weapon tech entries. But nothing specific.
-
i think you can probably piece together a relative chronology. if memory serves, Diomedes -> Raynor -> Titan for the big boys. not sure where the remaining ones fall in, but if i had to guess i'd think the hyperion was rather early and the pair of corvettes pretty close to to each other a bit later.

Thanks for the replies.

Cretheus during the Second Incursion4
Hyperion was hinted to be next1
Chimera -> Bellerophon2
Diomedes conceptualized early 3
That's all the timeline information there is.
1: "The GTC Hyperion was developed shortly after the Second Shivan Incursion as a testbed for fusing Vasudan energy reactors with a Terran hull, preceded by the success of the Deimos corvette" [BP:AoA Tech Room Description]
2: "The next generation of Alliance corvettes is the heavy Bellerophon class. Her abilities are similar to that of the lighter Chimera class, but more reactor power has been diverted towards weapons systems to provide an increase in firepower. The result is a slower-propulsed but better-armed variant of the Chimera chassis, with new hull plating taking advantage of breakthroughs in armour research." [BP:AoA Tech Room Description]
3:"Conceptualized early in the Threat Exigency Initiative warship program" [Blue Planet: War in Heaven Tech Description - 3rd iteration]
4:"The prototype was fielded during the Second Incursion" [Blue Planet: War in Heaven Tech Description]

For me that sounds more like the Chimera and Bellerophon were designed and build in tandem.
One for fast intervention and the other for heavy hitting.
-
Seems to me like the bellerophon was built a ways later since it 'takes advantage of breakthroughs in armor technology'.
-
I was under the impression that the Bellerophon was meant to replace the Chimera, basically being the Mark-2 Glass Cannonvette.

Definitely not, especially as neither ship is very glass. They have excellent AAA screens.
-
I agree on the glass point.
They are still giant flying cannons though imo. They basically need to point at enemy warships to shoot, and when they do the enemy dies freaking immediately.
e: clarity added

The Chimera has a much, much better AAA screen than the Bell could ever dream to have. I mean, really, 7 AAAs ? 5 STerPulses, 12 TT2s ? There's no such thing as too much dakka but come on !
The Bell is designed to be deployed in hunter-killer groups like Serkr, where it is close enough to two other warships with excellent point defences to not need so much itself, and where more forward firepower is more useful than a few more AAAs.

Yes, that's the entire point of these two designs. They're not really built for long slugging matches, they're built to jump in, beam the crap out of whatever is there, then lay down enough covering fire to keep bombers and bombs away until they can withdraw again.
The Chimera and Bellerophon designs complement each other, the Belle trading increased anticap firepower for a decrease in AAA capability.

Seems legit, basically how the are used in-campaign.

You can tell that again. That frustrating particular mission in WiH can only be compared with Axem's disco light fests.

Damn, with the awesome lighting we have in FS now, we could take the disco inferno to whole new levels.
