Hello. Since I Freespace 2 fan so I have to try pretty mod for this game. Very impressed me mod Blue Planet.
The Blue Planet 2 War in Heaven I found a room in the campaing mission called The BLADE ITSELF.
It's just one mission where you control a ship Uefg Karuna. Some time ago I thought of what would be controlling a large class battleship crusier, corvette or something similar.
I was very happy that somebody do such a task which can be controlled by such a vessel. Just a pity that there is only one mission. Therefore, I ask people who worked on this mission it would be possible to continue and to manage multiple missions where it can be controled by such a vessel. Because it could be a completely different dimension to the game.
I will be very happy if they found that the only good responses and to extend the mission where you control UEFg Karuna.

We have at least one more capship command mission finished.
-
Can you tell us which ship we get to drive? :nervous:
-
It's a sekret.
-
My bet would be a Custos.

In TBI, yes. In the mission in WiH2, it's probably going to be a UEC Custos.
-
Little specifications.

Yeah, everybody here knows, they've played the mission.
In the next release of War in Heaven there will be a mission where you get to fly a Custos.

Does the custos have all those little kinks (Beam jamming, Armor restore, etc) the Katana had in TBI?
-
It has special abilities, but not the same set.
-
In such condition is now in continuation Blue Planet 3?
When it will probably be so affordable.
I hope you will enjoy full controlling of crusier or corvette. :)

I'd bet QD has... :P
I have played it a few times, myself. I think part of the reason why it isn't played as much as it deserves is that it's just a standalone mission in every sense, rather than a campaign (or even mini-campaign).
-
Played it a few times too, trying different strategies. 'tis fun :3

I actually gave the mission another few playthroughs yesterday...and in one of them, something rather odd happened.
So I killed the Ania and Thalassa (was that the name of the second Deimos?), all good. In the second half of the mission, I wasn't really paying attention and I ended up doing too much damage to the Diomedes, who jumped out and activated the bomb. The Yangtze then said it was scrambling to see if it could jump in time, Simak was calling me out, blah blah blah...and then the Yangtze reported that they wouldn't make it in time. I decided to stick around to see the blast, and the meson bomb blew up...like it was a normal cargo container. Nothing was even damaged. Then the Yangtze jumped into the gate, sent their heartfelt thanks, and...uh...nothing. I couldn't fire upon Simak, the Diomedes and its transports were gone, the bomb was dealt with, and the Yangtze had escaped. So I just tried jumping out then, to see what would happen.
I got the 'great job yaaaay' debrief music, but the actual debrief text was essentially a mission failed (due to Yangtze dying from the bomb blast or something). I was all kinds of confused.
Also: what's the deal with Simak station flying all over the place? That Arcadia was moving faster than a Kentauroi (by a factor of 2-3) and turning on a dime like it doesn't afraid of anything.

"Its on my six, its on my six!"

lol looks like the make-sure-simak-station-doesn't-move-around script broke?
We have something better now though, (set-ship-immobile)
-
Simak is set to immobile. Both in the Ships Editor and via sexp.
-
Wasn't the set-ship-immobile SEXP available long before WiH? Why'd you need a script then? :wtf:
-
set-immobile was added by Goober on January 29th, 2011, or about half a year after WiH1 was released.

Not everyone has quick access to the FSO changelogs. No harm done.
