Title: The GTSG Mjolnir - who the heck made this?
Post by: SF-Junky on December 07, 2012, 11:18:14 am
We all know and love and admire the famous GTSG Mjolnir as it kicks enemy capship's asses we by ourselves could never every possibly do.

But.

We all also know - at least those of us who have been given the gift oft Fredding skill - also know that in the model (beamsaber.pof) the view point is not directed in the same direction as is the beam cannon. This means that it is not only difficult to put those things right so that they can actually target anything, it also makes it impossible to use coordinate manipulation SEXPs like set-object-facing-object. How the hell made this crap?

I already tried to solve this problem by myself, but this can't be done in PCS2 and unfortunately I have not been given the gift of 3D modelling skills. So I wonder if one those mighty, admirable, beloved (*) modelers out here could possibly change the X and the Y axis in this model and upload it.

(*) please introduce more kiss ass adjectives here

Old news. There's a mjolnir pof with fixed direction hanging around somewhere on FSMods. It's also a 5 sec fix in PCS2 now that PCS2 has transform capabilities.

Yeah and there's a version with a dockpoint and fixed firepoints that BP and ED have, try PMing Darius and I'm sure he'll send you the POF. And I'm sure lots of other people have it too.

This could be "fixed" in PCS2 before even the transform option, just add a dockpoint, dock to an Argo, and rotate the argo (then delete the Argo)
Not that that is necessary at all anymore with the rotated+dockpointed version (unless you want to retain compatibility with the Vanilla FS2 missions, in which case just use the non-rotated but dockpointed version).

You don't break compatibility with anything if your alternate, fixed pof has its own entry in your ships tbl.

Inefficient use of ship slots.
Being paranoid about those was something I inherited from the pre-inferno build days.

What do you mean by "fixed firepoints"?
