The full link downloads at a miniscule pace. It would take over a day to get it, so I'm not doing that. I doubt it would happen anyway, something would very likely interrupt the download at some point. The other one with 2 parts, you jump through their hoops but can't get a download going. Have you actually tried to initiate a download and been successful rather than looking at the figures that say the file is being downloaded? I've tried other links from that site for the other Babylon stuff and it's the same story.
Why don't you just put it on Freespacemods? I've downloaded tons of stuff from there, and it's where I got all my other Babylon Project downloads. Always smooth and easy, none of this garbage where you have to go through 4 or 5 links or slow downloads.

Why not? When there are enough seeders, they are much more reliable and faster than getting it from a server. If your concerned about viruses, scan the files after downloading. You should be doing that anyways, as servers get infected too and even a well known trusted site can send you a virus if compromised.
So scan the files for viruses before running them and you should be fine.

Why? Are you under the impression that all torrents are illegal or dangerous? Both are incorrect, and a torrent is absolutely the right way to get this file.

yeah, you need a torrent client. There's heaps out there, I recall this being quite popular: http://www.utorrent.com/ (but note that I haven't used it since I'm running Linux w/ Transmission (http://www.transmissionbt.com/) & I figure you need a windows torrent client).

Yes, utorrent is great and there is no need to fear viruses if you have an antivirus program active.

You're not going to get a virus from a torrent you can trust (like this one). Utorrent is great.
