Hey, Im new to the hardlight scene. I just installed FSOpen, because i wanted to try out all the awsome things ive been seeing around the wiki, but for some reason, Freespace wont let me engage any new missions asking me to put in disk 2.
I downloaded the game from GoG.com about a month ago. So thats awkward.
Have I done something wrong whilst installing?
Any troubleshooting help would help :)

After searching online I've discovered that I can't use the normal launcher to play the game. I have to use the FS-open launcher instead.
However, It did mean I had to restart my entire campaign, I can't continue using my old account, in which Ive finished the game once, and all my ace's and ranks (cry)
That's alright, but my main issue now is my inablity to play the other new game varients, I've downloaded the ancient shivan war, and the basic campaings that came with the FSopen download. But I cant access them.
Is anyone able to help with my new problem?

That doesn't sound right. GoG's version of FS2 shouldn't require you to have disk 2. It certainly shouldn't require you to have FS2_Open in order to work.
As for your other problem. Have you installed the mod to a folder in your FS2 folder and then selected it as your mod from the launcher's mod tab? If so, have you gone to the campaign room in-game and selected the campaign there?

It was working until i installed FS2open.
Then I had to start running FS2 by using the fs2_open_3_6_14.exe file else the whole screen would go black and I wouldnt be able to see anything of use.
Now I'm simply having troulbe trying to play the new user based content.
I'm not very technical, I have a basic understanding of computer jargon and whatnot.
So could someone give me a rather dumbed down version of what I have to do to run things like "the blue planet" and "ancient Shivan war"?
I am running windows 7 and downloaded the game via GoG

And if that doesn't work, we'll be needing your logs, boots and motorcycles (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359).
