Hi, after much searching and brain melt downs I have come here.
My question is: when you set the mission as a scramble mission does this automaticly set the loadout of your fighter to be set to the defaults as set in the tables? Because I have been trying to set the weapons load out to be different for said fighter, even disallowing the default weapons in the load out editor but to no avail. If this is true will I need to use the set-primary-weapon sexp?

You should be able to alter their loadouts in the ship editor. What builds are you using?

3.6.14 RC6. double checked the ship editor and it shows the different weapons selected. I am not using any modified weapons or ships and the table for the ship has the weapons I want as allowable.

Is your mission attached to a campaign file? Are you playing it in campaign mode?

no, I am playing just as a single mission. I will get 3.6.16 and see if that fixes it.

Tried with 3.6.14 (not 3.6.16 my mistake) but still the same.

Try it with a nightly build.

tried with the Jan 05 nightly. ran a test mission with same ship and the weapons I want and that worked, but my mission wont keep the changes. must be a something wrong with my mission?

The test mission works on that build but the real one doesn't?
Try a new pilot.

Is the player in a wing? That sometimes matters.

Problem solved needed a new pilot. my bad i assumed since i was just using the mediavps and no other mods i only needed my retail pilot.

I've been struggling for a long time trying to figure out how to grey those options out. You've done me a service! :D
