Title: Music cutting out?
Post by: FIZ on January 19, 2013, 01:38:57 pm
Looked back about 15 pages, and I couldn't find anything about it even though I believe it was brought up before.  Search yielded no results for me either, a lot of threads have 'music' in them.

Pretty much it is a problem of the music cutting out after 2-3 missions on WiH act I.  I used to make it 5 or 6 missions without having to restart.  It happened a lot in act III as well, but it didn't bother me too much due to replaying missions, restarting the client (restores music) wasn't a big deal.  I thought their was a quick flag you could change that would help, but again I can't find the thread.

Never really had this problem with retail or other mods.  If someone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it  :)

Thanks.

That's really quite odd. I haven't heard of that issue before.

I think my issue was the same. It was fixed by changing the Preferred Playback Device from Generic Hardware to Generic Software in the Audio tab of the launcher.

Yeah, I believe that is what I did before, I tried switching from software to hardware when I was first playing Act III, I don't think it made much of an improvement.  Switching it back to software just now and it hasn't cut out on me yet, but I am restarting the client every 2-3 missions.

Thanks.

You're welcome. I'm curious though: why are you restarting? Memory leak or something?

Erm, just restarting Freespace 2 from the launcher, not a system reboot.  That fixes the music.
