Would anyone please care to explain how exactly I FIRE the mjolnir I've hacked in Everything is Permitted?
I had the transport ID'ed and less than 2 km away and I'm sitting there next to the Mjolnir going "what button do I press?!?!" and then got shredded by fighters.
I'm really enjoying WiH Act 3, but the new mechanics aren't exactly intuitive or well-explained. The learning curve here is a *****.

Command menu, then order the doom beam just like you would a fighter.

Y'know, here I am looking for a multiplayer comm button bound to it and imagine that, it's in the obvious place.
Thanks. I feel like an idiot now =)

There's a message that teaches you that but something about the configuration of the HUD is cutting it off for some players.
-
I don't quite understand why the messages gauge was moved, it was fine in the top left now its in this awkward place which is neither functional nor aesthetically pleasing.
-
IDK but that gauge had nothing to do with the problem I'm talking about!

I've said exactly that back in beta testing !

Odd.
1680x1050 here.

1920x1080 here and I didn't see it either. Not to say that it didn't pop up, but i certainly didn't see it.
I just read it off of the forums then replayed the mission and laughed maniacally as the transport was shredded by glowing green plasma death.
I think it should be more intuitive though, frankly the first play through for campaigns like this is the only one where I actually get immersed. It came off as a huge cock block when I failed that mission a bazillion times even when I tried to just MJOLNIR the thing.
-
In my defense, the Mjolnir route was supposed to be a route that was super hidden and for players who scanned everything for kicks, so finding out how to use it was made a little vague so it wouldn't become the obvious route. Obviously I shouldn't have done that!
I should have also have done something to say "DON'T HACK THIS UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO KILL YOUR TARGET. I AM SERIOUS. GO FIND YOUR TARGET FIRST." I probably should have just outright denied you the ability to hack it until you actually found your target.
So yes, it could have been made clearer.
-
You could have just made it so that the GTVA would re-hack it and you'd lose control over it after a period of time so you *have* to find the target first :P

Also that could have been made clearer too.

While we're talking about this mission - what is the trigger for the transport being "discovered"? Every time I replayed the mission (and believe me, it was a lot, had to be 6 or 7) I already knew which transport had the Elder long before the game accepted that objective as complete from a quick series of mouseovers. Had I known how to fire the mjolnir, I could have had the mission done in about 5 minutes but I had to wait ages for the objective to complete despite my knowledge of the Elder's location.
?

Your signal score has to be 9 or above for the mission to tag it. I know some instances it can seem like "hey its obviously that one" for a 6 or 7 if you've got a great angle, but if you're at the rear end of the convoy looking forward, a 6 or 7 could be any transport. Dealing with line of sight obstructions would have been quite a bit more work.
Completing that directive is not required to win the mission, mind you!

Wait what.
I completed the mission by hacking it and then identifying a target.
Guess I lucked out and identified the transport quickly enough?
-
That's damn impressive considering it only gives you 30 seconds IIRC.
-
I opened the comms menu and found out I could control the Mjolnir... but I didn't know which transport to target and enemy fighters discovered and blasted me when the 30 seconds were up. There was one time I targeted the wrong transport because I hadn't figured out it changes, and then I was promptly blown away. I think it was intuitive enough, only took me about 5 tries. :P
-
In contrast with the rest of Act III, it's noob friendly. :p

30 seconds to hack it.

Actually, during my playthough, I hacked the Mjolnir and then burned away outside of hacking range and then it was never re-hacked, and I was still able to use it to destroy the target.

30 seconds to hack it.
Followed by a 30 second window to fire it, just tested it and, in my case, after 30 seconds they regain control and the elder jumps out.
