Title: Check this out
Post by: Snakeseyes on June 23, 2002, 10:42:41 am
I don't know if any one else posted this before, but Discreet, the creator of 3ds Max, made gMax, a somewhat shorter and free version of 3dsMax, for moders. There is a poll there for what games it should support.

The link is here (http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/).

Gmax has no render nor video post effect tool. Iuses it's own file extension too. Still it's perfect for modding.
... if only...

If only... what? If by that you mean if only it could be exported, well, it can. You need to find the GMax to Quake three model export plug in, then use deep exploration to convert to cob, then cob to pof to convert to pof. It's messy, but workable.

LOL! Yeah, now that the source is out we gotta bug the V guys to release that damn plugin. Hell, I'd almost rather have the plugin instead of the source... :p

I think there might be copyright issues with the MAX SDK.

Its always been a rather closed format....now dotXSI, on the other hand.... ;)

Meh, I have no idea about how to write XSI plugins. Heck, I never really looked into MAX plugins... :p

well XSI is fairly easy mainly because the whole formats' open.

MAX is a little more tricky (procedural file format for one) because discreet are a bunch of twats.
