Title: cannot set resolution and failed to set graphic mode error on startup

When I start the launcher I get an error that says "Failed EnumAdapterModes in UpdateAntialias list".  I can launch the game but I get a "failed to set graphic mode" and the game runs in a little tiny window.  I guess the launcher just builds the commandline parameters for the actual exe.  Hopeful just issue with launcher, we try the exe later.

You are using Windows 8. There's a known incompatibility between Win 8 and the 5.5g Launcher, you need to use wxLauncher (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=67950.0) instead.

I have the exact same problem. I try to use wxLauncher instead, but when I start the game with default settings it just crashes. Any ideas?

Try to run 5.5g Launcher.exe in Windows XP SP3 compatible mod. It works on my Windows 8.
