Title: Name that film

Inspired by the recent Half-Life debate, I've been racking my brain over films long ago seen. There are a few of which the title escapes me but I'd like to see again. Obviously, with a name it would be easier to see it. So I'm asking if you can help me identify this film and then, make a game out of it if you want...

This first film, circa late-90's/early noughties(?), is about an American town, in which an oozy worm-like thing which lives miles beneath the earth, kills everybody. A government team roll in on a Universal soldier-esque super-truck/lab. The worm kills them , can mimic them, and thinks it's either god or the devil. It can read thoughts, and creates some nightmarish creatures like flying moth/bat thingies.........  The main army dude who dies is black, and wears a spacesuit for some reason. The protagonists if memory serves are students and an old professor and the film is entirely set at night.

I'm really racking My brain and it's been driving me crazy.

Please help!!!

There was this film with a dude, and a thing. Oh and then some stuff happened!  :p

But in all seriousness there was a film that I saw part of, ages ago. It had some guy that got kidnapped by some sort of reptilian creatures, imprisoned with some woman in a cave-like cell, fed these giant bugs that looked like wood lice on steroids and submitted to some for of gene therapy to turn them into more reptile people.

Oh, and I think he had one of his hands cut off when he tried to off one of the lizard guards.

Dekker you might know this one, it was on the old VHS that had the recording of 'The Shadow' on it.

Was it an episode of the outer limits, where the human gave away_our plan to rally a fleet on the far side of the sun?

I'm not too sure, I think it was an actual feature length film.
