I'm running FSO 3.6.12 on a 2012 Macbook Air with Intel HD4000 graphics. I'm trying to get mediavps to work, but the ships are missing their textures and appear white (not gray and white stripes). I've tried both 3.6.10 and 3.6.12 and I've downloaded both from multiple sources. I am not running the advanced vp (though I've tried it).
If I remove the assets (+patch vp) then everything runs fine except without the hi-res textures and models. The only reference I found searching the forums + google to white ships was an issue with really old Nvidia drivers, so my best guess is it is related to drivers, but I can't seem to find mac drivers for any intel imbedded chips.
I appreciate your help. Thank you.

3.6.12 is old--very old, in fact. I suggest using
3.6.16 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=83577.0) the latest nightly build for OS X (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?board=173.0) (since 3.6.16 has a serious bug related to weapon damage).
Unfortunately, Intel graphics chips aren't really suited for 3D gaming, so you might have limited luck getting FSO to run properly. Make sure you aren't using MV_Advanced, MV_AnimGlows, or any optional "advanced" packages included with various mods.
If you still can't get FSO to work, please post your fs2_open.log as described here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=56279.msg1180359#msg1180359).

When he says "I've used 3.6.10 and 3.6.12", I think he meant the MVPs, not the builds.
Still yeah, log.

Yes sorry, I am using FSO version 3.6.16. Some progress, I was trying to create a log file and found out that the textures do load properly (tested with newest nightly) in windowed mode??? Any ideas?
For the log, I do not have the folder ~/Library/FS2_Open/data **. Where else might the log while be?
This might be moot, because I already get lag in the ship viewer with the higher res textures. :(

I'm on OSX on a much more powerful iMac and had to use a modified build to get all the textures back.
I was helped here http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=83595.0

Just to make sure it's clear here as well, the build GrahamO mentioned is only needed to play the Blue Planet mods. BP is designed to work with a special experimental build that uses cutting-edge features. The build I provided is a compatibility build for BP OS X players. For FS2 retail and all other FS2 mods, though, the standard OS X builds should be used, such as the official builds and the nightly builds (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?board=173.0). Using a recent nightly build is recommended for now, because as Yarn said, 3.6.16 has a difficulty bug that's fixed in nightly builds.
EDIT: Irish29, you might also want to try disabling shaders in the launcher (check "Disable GLSL (shader) support" under "Troubleshooting" in the launcher's advanced settings tab) and seeing if that helps. Try generating a log as Yarn suggested with and without shaders enabled.
EDIT 2:
For the log, I do not have the folder ~/Library/FS2_Open/data **. Where else might the log while be?
The ** was just to indicate that there was a note at the bottom of that post. :) The ~/Library folder is hidden in OS X Lion and Mountain Lion. See here (http://www.macworld.com/article/1161156/view_library_folder_in_lion.html) for how to temporarily unhide it.
