If you were making a WIH campaign from the GTVA perspective, storywise what missions would you have in there?
A few I can think of possibly:
-Attacking the ships in WIH's opening
-Capturing Artemis Station
-A couple missions during the Blitz attacking Earth stuff
-Escorting Serkr somewhere
-A mission attacking an enemy convoy or something, afterwards you get a "Red Alert" briefing to go escort the Imperiuse and save the Carthage
I can't think of any for Tenebra right now, can you?
FYI, I know Scotty and some others are actually working on a GTVA campaign last I heard. I don't know any specifics about that; I'm not trying to pry for info on that.
-
Really imbecilic ideas I came up with.
- "Shoot the Moon:" Something about the orbital strikes on Luna... maybe like, there's an industrial or civilian complex that has massive fixed anti-air, and you have to perform SEAD to clear the way for bombers.
- "Hauler's Grief:" Escort run for a logistics ship on its way to Neptune or Artemis (you'd have to add your own twists...)
- "The All Seeing Eyes:" Combat involving intense electronic warfare (like defend your own Charybdis while you destroy a countering Oculus).
- "Spread Fear, Feed Lies:" Infiltrate the Feds' communication network, and send fake, demoralizing transmissions.
- "Sticky Situation:" Save a Diomedes from a Narayana strike.
- "A Breakdown in Communications:" Mark targets with TAG-C missiles for SSM strikes, but eventually have to save those ships launching the missiles.
-
I wouldn't do an Artemis Station mission because the battle is so lopsided there is no way the GTVA could possibly lose.

All the more reason to do it.
I love watching the majestic tev ships spit out UEF wreckage after doling out some BEAMZ.
But yeah no, taking neptune might be a better choice.
Other segments of the battle during Aristeia as well. Maybe if we played it as an SOC wing we could disable Laporte's fighter in 'My Brother my Enemy'
Edit-
A variety of SOC missions involving the silencing of witnesses and sneaking supplies to the covert Imperiuse might be interesting.
-
Sneaking supplies to Kostadin would be more interesting I believe.
-
Can't argue with that. I just wouldn't mind a mission where some poor UeF scout wing/cruiser runs across the Imperiuse and you have to hunt them down before they get a transmission out. Or something like that.
-

Conversely, I could practically hear the briefings after being "betrayed" by Kostadin.
-
- Earth Sector Blitz (GTVA side), just another view of 'Darkest Hour' elsewhere in the system
- Collateral Damage, play as GTVA for that mission, like escorting the Serkr team or hunting down the Rhineland
- Various SOC black ops
-- The SOC ambush prior to 'My Brother My Enemy'
-- Deals in Shadows
-- Secret meeting with Kostadin Cell, facing an opposing Gef cell
-- SOC assault on Kostadin Cell
- Reverse Delenda Est - you play as one of the 212th Silver Scythes and escorting the Imperieuse shortly before Delenda Est, against UEF ambush.

SAAB Spaceframes?

I love your name Bean

Play as the entire Carthage air wing in DE. Every time you die, you jump to another fighter until there are no more left. (http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-smith.gif)

Definitely - perhaps performing an op against another cell for them in return for their work.

Patrol missions and sorties anywhere but Sol or Delta Serpentis.
I want to see what's going on in FS2's colony systems around Capella, see the BP universe outside of the front lines of war. I doubt the GTVA committed ALL their fleets to Sol (that would undermine their ever-vigilant Shivan defenses) -- I want to see what's going on with the other ones. See firsthand what the years have done to the GTVA colony systems.
EDIT (too many times): This is not to the exclusion of other ideas. I really like the Reverse Delenda Est idea. A lot. I suggest presenting the GTVA side as You Are Alpha One, with no characterization or dialogue, just as you were in FS2. Alternatively have it as an Alternate Reality Storyline -- you get to change history, kill Laporte and co., crush the UEF once and for all? Of course, that means we might be doomed, but hey, at least Alpha One will get to die gloriously in battle against the Shivan armada.
EDIT 2: A crazy twist launching point would be if the Imperieuse (and you) don't make it in time and the UEF actually succeeds in getting the Carthage (although I admit this is farfetched since the BP GTVA is quite precise)
-
- Reverse Delenda Est - you play as one of the 212th Silver Scythes and escorting the Imperieuse shortly before Delenda Est, against UEF ambush.
No. No, no, no, no, no. The entire point of Delenda Est is that the UEF had no idea whatsoever that the Imperieuse was still in-system. An ambush on it before DE but after the Blitz runs completely counter to that.

SAAB Spaceframes?
Oh man this could be so cool. Jump in with an AWACS, cripple the Fed battlenet before they can organize a response, call in some capships for a fleet duel while you tear into drydocked Karunas, taking their connected infrastructure with them...

The UEF knew that the Hydra was in-system, though. I could see one of Calder's strike wings or even the Fedayeen tracking it through subspace to its rendezvous with the Imperieuse, and having to take them out before they bust your AWACS jamming or escape.
-
I guess it's possible that the GTVA jammed the long-range communication of the wargods and the two attack groups were only able to communicate with each other, because they were comperetively close, but they couldn't get the info about the Imp from central command.
Or alternatively the ones that attacked the Imp were being jammed and thus no advance warning came through.
Or that particular ambush (or rather the leaked information, wether intentionally or accidentally that lead to it) is the reason for delayed arrival of the Imperieus and thus at fault for the divergence between the actual BP reality and the parallel reality Gregster2k suggested.

If you were a GTVA fighter/bomber pilot and a mission was to attack a Solaris destroyer, how would you go about that?
With all the defense weaponry they have, what would the strategy be in a mission?
-
Stay out of CIWS range and call in Serkr Team and the Atreus? There's no way strikecraft can assault a Solaris without massive losses. The CAP and CIWS systems can easily buy enough time for the Ready-5 fighters to launch, and that will provide the time to let a Solaris recall/launch the rest of the air wing.
-
Can anything be done to at least soften it up a little for the destroyers/Serkr? Or totally stay back and out of the way (and protect the GTVA strike force)?
-
Against the ridiculous PD of a Solaris their best bet is to stay the hell away and protect the strikeforce. Even if a Solaris didn't have that massive CIWS screen the fighters would still need to protect the strikeforce unless those ship captains want all their weapon turrets and subsystems sniped by Uriels and their hulls pummeled by Durgas and Izra'ils.
-
What about a treb strike on the Solaris's weapons subsystem? That'll probably render the PD mostly useless, and perhaps let Stilleto's get through to take out turrets & the engine subsystem. As for the fighter screen... ummm... more trebs? :nervous:

Agreed. The answer to all problems is always more trebs.
-
No no, here's what to do: modify Watchdogs to launch Trebs, then deploy them everywhere while the Ds keep each other busy. Guaranteed to be a near critical waste of resources, but the look on the SecCouncil representative would be hilarious.
-
Better yet, let's modify an AWACS to do it. The Feds will never see it coming. :D
-
AWACS - foddership
;)
E: I wouldnt mind seeing interaction with the GEFs, maybe even a couple of missions as them, or with GTVA stealth craft on oversight.
But also more of a Vasudan point of view would be interesting, even if it is just in the form of the Fiction Reader.

What are some GTVA missions that could take place during Tenebra?
(Sorry for the bump, I guessed it would be better to do this than create a whole new thread)
-
Now that I've read this, I've thought of a Tev mission in a Pegasus that looks like the following:
Primary Objectives:
-- TAG the Hanuman
-- Carthage must survive
-
that mission is not going to be the most complex, unless you made it into her finest hour: tev edition
-
Im not sure what the treb hype is about, I can evade them easily without
afterburners countermeasures (derp) and most missions still kick my ass, making me feel like a newb.
-
Simply that the AI doesn't dodge trebs very well, and if you treat the AI as being a "standard pilot"...
-
Trebs aren't a big deal as long as you have the time to focus on them. They are, however, really punishing for players who haven't honed their missile dodging skills, which we try to be sensitive of when designing missions.

GTVA missions for tenebra?
- SOC smash and grab mission on a UEF station to get Elder Henriksson to safety (prior to Everything is Permitted)
- SOC obtaining an artifact that contains the intelligence for Eye in The Storm, possibly in uncharted system, the enemy can be Vishnans here, or just plain Shivans is fine.
- Raid on the Kostadin Cell
- Various Hammer of Light crackdown missions
-
There should be an early SOC mission to win over the help of the Kostadin cell, perhaps by stealing from Greenfly or something, in Scimitars.
-
Here's some ideas for GTVA missions.
- "Rite of Passage" - Protect the Meridian battlegroup as it assaults Normandy Station over Neptune.
- "Seize the Knight..." - Lead a squadron of bombers in a (futile) attack against the Toutatis.
- "...Sacrifice the Rook" - RED ALERT: Defend the GTD Requiem from a 3rd Fleet ambush.
- "Shadowplays" - Using a Pegasus stealth fighter, gather information on the Jovian forces in Jupiter.
- "His Finest Hour" - Defend the Atreus as it launches it's attack against Artemis Station.
- "The Price of Victory" - Destroy the Jovian evacuation convoys before they can escape to Federation controlled space.
- "Proving Ground" - Attack the Federation forces orbiting Luna in order to allow the Meridian to move into position to bombard the Moon's industrial plants.
- "The Darkest Dawn" - Basically the Alliance's perspective of the events of "Darkest Hour".
- "Barriers to Entry" - Break through the 2nd fleet blockade of Neptune during the events of "Aristea" by delivering enough damage to the Eris to force it to retreat.
- "Hannibal's Gambit" - Escort the Imperieuse until she jumps to Saturn, make sure that no Federation forces that stumble upon her escape to warn the Wargods of her presence in the system.
- "The Siege of Mycenae" - Repel 2nd and 3rd Fleets' diversionary attack on the Alliance forces over Jupiter during the events of "Delenda Est".
- SOC Loop 1 - "Secret Agent Man" - Rescue Elder Henriksson from the Fedayeen.
- SOC Loop 2 - "Keep Your Friends Close..." - Retaliate against Kostadin Cell's betrayal by destroying one of their shipyards and capturing one of their cell leaders, revealing to the Alliance MacDuff's ultimate plan.
- SOC Loop 3 - "...But Your Enemies Closer" - Basically "One Future" from Tenebra except it's the Alliance that foils MacDuff's plan to destroy the Earth with a massive fighter attack. Not completing "Keep Your Friends Close..." and/or leaving the SOC Loop results in the events of "One Future" unfolding as they did in the main WiH campaign. One way to make this mission more interesting is to be given a choice between accepting the Vindicator's help when it arrives or drive it off and completing the mission on your own.
- "Hannibal's Lament" - Defend the Carthage from the overwhelming Federation attack during the end of "Her Finest Hour" until you're overwhelmed (either you get shot down or the Carthage surrenders).
- "Enemy at the Gate" - Repel 3rd fleet's harassment attacks on the Delta Serpentis jump node.
- "The Vengeance Cometh" - Escort the Vengeance to Jupiter.
-
Skipping the "Cog of War" that was Alpha 1, I would like to see a TEV WIHish narative of a pilot on a Dio. Maybe with their own Nagiri, author's choice. An antithesis of Laporte.
